YAMJ suddenly taking hours (on rechecks)
« on: November 30, 2018, 07:29:10 PM »
Hi, used YAMJ without any problems for a year now, but the last couple of weeks sometimes (and now always) it takes hours to recheck, processor goes up and nothing is downloaded, takes about 1 hour to recheck 1 movie. What is happening? Is it my collection of 344 movies? Is something corrupted? Or is it my internet provider? Speed is a little lower than normal but I cannot imagine that is the main problem.. Please help, I have sleepness nights when my moviewall is not complete :-)

No it shouldn't be the number of films.

I have used YAMJ extensively over the past 3-days on 600 movies [2xHDD's] plus backup drives. No problems whatsoever. The process takes about 4 minutes max before I can write the results to the drives.

Suggest the problem lies elsewhere.

What are the recheck settings set at? eg days, Max, MinDays etc

Days: 30
Enable: True
Recheck max: 50
Recheck min days: 7

If I set recheck on false it still stops at the same movie:

At this point processor goes up to 100% with 4 processing threads, so I put it to 2 and it stays up for hours, computer is pretty warm. Java.exe is very busy, I don't understand

I have my recheck.Days set to 0

All other fields are as yours.

Not sure why the process stops at those films .... if they were removed eg placed to one side ... would YAMJ carry on as normal with the remaining films? In which case there'd be something wrong with those films. Or would it just stop at the next film?

I delete the xml and jpg from the Hotel Transylvania folder on the Mede8er. But I still get the same result. Is there a way completely reset YAMJ? Seems like it is storing some information somewhere (I cannot find)

That I do not know sorry.

But on another thread, you mentioned that you'd:

Tip: I set YAMJ to use 4 cores and 4 threads, it speeds up the process very much!

How did you do this as I do not understand?

Have you tried deleting the references to Hotel T in the Jukebox rather than the main Hotel T folder?

How do I do that?

YAMJ uses 2 folders.

One for the location of the films, the other for the Jukebox.  Go to the Jukebox and you'll find all the boxart, fanart, xml files etc for each film. Try deleting all the entries for Hotel T and see if this helps.''

Just tried the thread/core amendment.

One drive with 261 films .... deleted circa 10 entries and the complete process took 23 seconds! Then a minute to copy the results to the HDD.

Impressive.

Thanks for the tip. Worked well for me :)

Pfffff  :-[ I'm was sleeping, the folder is on the Mede8er, I was looking on my pc :-) Thank you for your help, I will try it now

Edit: "Processing new video: Hotel Transylvania 2", still taking time. It must be my internet connection! I already called them and they said they had some problems so that must be it.

Thanks again for your time. I hope my tip helps you also! (Ah, missed your reply, you're welcome!)

1 minute to copy? Do you copy everthing? Or just the new added movies? You can select them only and YAMY only copies those, saves you even more time!

Thank you.

Yes I always copy everything. Shall try restricting to just the additions. Tried this a long time ago and didn't think it worked ... but will give it another go :)
