Cannot see shares on Windows 10 PC
« on: September 25, 2015, 07:30:04 AM »
I recently upgraded my Win 8.1 Pro machine to Win 10 Pro (straight upgrade, not fresh install)

Since then both my 600X3D and my 500X2 cannot see the machine (and thus, its fileshares) on the wireless network (wired is not an option, but it worked flawlessly before using wireless) . If I use uPNP (using PS3 Media Server and XBMC) they do see the machine (albeit the connection is terrible), but using file shares on my machine and streaming from them use to work perfectly on 8.1. I've made sure all my network settings allow the machine to be visible, and I can see the shares from my Win 7 laptop.

I've downloaded that Mede8er Network Media Manager app from WinShare and followed the steps, it says my shares are OK, and it made the registry settings changes as required. Still nothing.

I upgraded my 600X3D to the latest v4.02 BETA firmware, also still no change.

Any1 have any idea what I could be missing?

Thanks,

Well, my problem is solved - i just gave the 600X3D a new name in my routers setup and wrote the same name in the configuration menu of the mede8er...that's it - now i can see the mede8er on my network and the shared folders...happy again :)

Hi guys,

I just updated to the new firmware and I can´t see anymore the drive of the MED800X3D on my Win10 Pc´s Lan devices, just the references showed on the capture attached below.... any tips?

Turned off router, pc and all devices, changed the name of the X3D to X3MED (wich shows updated), but still no luck..
Any setting on the device that may be needed to add?

Thanks in advance for any help (!)  :)

Did you check if Samba Process is set to ON under Mede8er network settings?
Read the  Mede8er 400X/500X Beginners Guide
or Mede8er 500X2/400X2/450X2 Beginners Guide

Also check the Couto X3D Newbies Guide first.

Please don't PM me but post on the forum.

Thanks Maasbommel! That resolved being able to "see" the drive.

Can connect now, however it seems that now appears different for me on Windows after the update, before it appeared as a device on the network list (as soon as Windows reinited)

Now show up differently (no big deal, but I like better as it was before) : I can see it as an added network  drive, present on win explorer (see pic) but still can´t see as a Network device if I don´t click a dedicated direct access link I made  pointing "\\X3MED". Any tips? :-)

Cheers.

If you have been advised to create a Mapped Drive it's because the Network link fails , usually due to DNS issues.

Thanks jer1956! I mapped the drive by myself, no advise from Windows... any idea how to get this to normal?
Already tried this info I founded, but no luck:

"To reset the DNS resolver cache, perform the following steps:

Hold down the Windows key and press “R” to bring up the Run dialog box.
Type “ipconfig /flushdns” then press “Enter“."
