MED300X external sources of media
« on: November 14, 2012, 10:25:44 AM »
Hi, i got my 300X today but realised that it had no LAN port on it (stupid mistake on my part) now i was wondering, i run a home pc that stores all my media on it and the plan was to use the 300X as a outlet of sorts to take the media from my server pc and present it in simple easy way so that less tech savvy members in my family can use it.

Without a lan port i'm now stumped as to how i would go about doing this, would the Mede8er recognise the server's media files if i just had to plug a usb from it to the Pc and would it stream/sort those files to show in the library or am i better off trying to return it and get a 450x2 with a lan port?

Any suggestions would be greatly helped here!
thanks!

You cannot do this with a MED300X. Suggest you exchange it for either MED450X2 or MED400X2S.

What are you expectations?  If you expecting something which will work like a PC and present media in a nice to look at and search manner with little or no preparation..then ANY mediaplayer is going to be a frustrating experience.   Your going to find the prep  work time consuming, and the family will constantly be asking why  can't it be a simple as their PC.

Those who happiest are those who have read up  and know these things aren't like PC's.
