My mede8er500X2 has started freezing recently while watching series (sd) and movies (hd)... not sure why? nothing has changed recently.

Few Details:
Streaming via Ethernet cable from win7 PC
Connected to Samsung LCD via HDMI
Running latest FW2.0.7

Think there is a hardware issue?

Try a complete power off, power on cycle..(icluding router) and then check Setup, doing a Restore Default.  Problems which appear "overnight" could be down to power surges which can corrupt some settings.

Have split off this topic and changed the Post header to prevent this getting lost in the generic 2.0.7 feedback topic.

Will also move it to the tech support section of the board.

The basic approach to verify what the root cause is and related to some HW issue or not would be:
- unplug power and do a fresh boot
- if that does not help: save the config on usb stick and do a fresh FW install using recovery mode. After that do a config restore.

If you have usb disks attached or an internal disk installed, to remove them temp and see if your issues of hanging go away is also another approach to minimize and investigate root cause further.

Playing from a local usb disk and see if it starts to hang is another to see if your issue is network related or not.
