Hey guys,
I got my med1000x about a week ago, so I thought I'd post my little review.
First things first, the package looks like its an iPad/MacBook Pro box. Opening it, the usual things... cable, remote, AC adapter etc.
The mede8er iteself is no longer plastic, its finished in a brushed aluminium and it is a brilliant design. The best part is picking it up: it feels solid, well built and heavy. Installing a hard drive took 5 seconds, its literally a plug and play system. I had the MED500X2 and this is a big improvement (not that there was anything wrong with the X2), just from a convenience perspective. Internal hard drives are now interchangeable with minimal effort.
Turning it on was an experience, the menu loads in no time. Its a lot faster then the X2 was. The menu has a new layout and much more practical if you ask me. I heard its also 'skinable' but I have not played with that yet.
Playback of files: I use my airport express for music streaming, so my file playback is completely limited to movies. I have not played with mp3 files at all. mkv is played back brilliantly, I can tell you there are noticeable improvements over the X2. The smoothness of playback is flawless, it almost feels that the upscaling (even on 1080p) adds a sharpness to the image. Movies have a 'dreamlike' feel to them.
ISO playback: Here is where I think most people are interested. I only have 1 3D iso file and it played flawlessly. 3D was pulled through almost immediately, and it looked just as good as my PS3 playing the same disc. Infact, I couldn't tell the difference and I compared them by switching between inputs on my AVR. Handshaking was not a problem and colors were identical to the PS3. I had absolutely no crosstalk, and it was a pleasure to load it up almost instantly instead of using my PS3.
I am very happy with my player, its exactly what I was hoping for.

Other well known makes are plastic....Med's have always been bent metal. The X2 continues..we would like those unfamilier with the Med range to know that even those are better built than most other brands.

Thanks for your review RS4. Too bad we in the U.S. have to wait another 2 weeks or so to order one. Re: the 3D BD-ISO you tested, was it over the network via SMB and what was the title?

For general info We have added Auto Frame Rate detection for 25fps and 29.97fps via a new Setup Option in the X3 Setup Menu. This is in Beta testing at the moment. We think this will be well received as its possibly the first Realtek based player to do this. We also did tests on 2D 23.976 and cannot see any micro stutter on the end credit scrolling. So either we getting old or its not visible on our setup or the SDK is outputting 23.976fps. Have not checked this on 3D BDISO as yet. Mede8er1

The movie was IMAX Hubble 3D, it was playing off an external hard drive.

I received my 1000X3D a couple of weeks ago, but I was able to set it up only today; the new device has taken the place, quiet smoothly, of my trusty 400X2. The 1000X3D is quite a sturdy device, well built and with all the ports within easy reach.
Overall quality is up to usual Mede8er standards and the new processor, coupled with the available RAM, provides a more responsive GUI.
I didn't tested it against 3D movies, yet, but all my existing HD features played smoothly and without glithces of any kind.
Well done, mede8er. Well done!

Hello everybody!
I always liked to have a mediaplayer. More and more I rip my cd's to hard drive, and play my hd movies also from hard disc.
I have a very good projector, a Sony VW 95. I used it with an older computer with a newer ATI 5750 card.
Unfortunaly the computer gave his last breath. But it was noisy, and I want to replace it with something working smoother.
My friend has a Oppo 95, and that is a wonderful machine. Love the Pq . But way the expensive. So I ordered the modified 93 (still hard on the wallet ) for all regions. In the Us it is said that both players are identical for picture, but mine although sharp had for that price too much visible video-noise. Confirmed by others on a French forum. And even the seller who took it back!
But I not need a bd player, as I have most on hard discs. My other computer has an bd player, I can rip my discs with it. I can still see later for a terrific BD player with reading folders or isos. Meanwhile, I can maybe buy this player, and even when Oppo comes out with a newer player, still use the 1000X3D for my 3 d files.
I will have a good jukebox-player anyway! But is the PQ of the x 3, much less then a Oppo or even a Dune? I not expect them to play in the same league, just wondering about if it would be a big step back.
One thing I do find pity on the X3. With all these possibilities, why for good heaven one hdmi output? Most surround receiver not accept the frequency of 3 D image. So if you want to keep the HD Master sound it is impossible! Even without 3 d, then you MUST go through your receiver to have the full range, and I prefer to connect my projector directly to the player, and not want a spdif or any other downmix.
