First impressions on MED1000X3D!
« on: July 20, 2012, 06:29:06 PM »
My MED1000X3D just arrived today   8)

I ripped off the package and unveiled the beauty. It looks even cooler when you see it in real life!

The bootup time is about 22 sec from button press!

I quickly conneted a usb stick with a music folder on it.
From Home Screen to music playback it took only 4 sec!!!!
This means open media library, select device, select folder, select song!!   that is nice  ;D

GUI is really fast and also looks awesome.  I'll never go back to X2... although its also an awesome device.

More come soon!

Here are some quick shots:

Enjoy!

I'm sure Mede8er1 will appreciare your comments.  V1 firmware is good, but not as good as we woould have liked.  We are busy with the next version that will add some extra features ASAP.

It's diffuclt to get across to people the "feel" of the product. This is not some "plastic sandwich maker" as some imply.

It's not just a looker either...I feel as if I'm using a £100 better cd player when playing muisc.

I would like to see a video that shows the speed increase within the GUI.  For example, does it still lag a bit whilst scrolling through your list of movies with metadata descriptions showing?

Thanks - looks promising thus far.

This player looks exciting, but on the 3D BD-ISO front, the following are musts. Hopefully, someone can test and report back. Thanks!

  • Ability to select which playlist to play. Crucial for titles like 'Cars 2' 3D in which the Spanish credits playlist is largest/longest and plays by default in 1186 players I've tried, and titles like 'Grand Canyon (IMAX)' 3D in which the largest/longest playlist is the making-of, not the main feature. HiMedia and Micca players have fixed this via playlist select using BD-lite option.

  • Ability to invert synch. Crucial for titles like 'Rio' 3D, 'Drive Angry' 3D and others which are right-eye first, not the usual left-eye first 3D BDs. HiMedia and Micca players have fixed this via 'Menu' button pop-up options.

  • Proper 23.976 for 3D film-based BDs, which is most of them. HiMedia and Micca players have NOT fixed this; it's still 24.000 for 23.976 material.

  • Support for forced subs. Crucial in 'Avatar' 3D for those of us who don't understand native Na'vi ;). HiMedia and Micca players have NOT fixed this. Maybe this is a Realtek issue as I don't see forced subs supported in any 1185 and 1186 players to date.

Do you have Digital Video Essentials or Spears and Munsil in a file format where you could test the accuracy of the video output of the device?

Have you been able to test how it handles Seamless Branching movies like Fast Five, or Disney flicks? Seamless Branching seems to be a problem for several of the players out there if you are using 1:1 Iso.

Hi,

Been a while since I came over to the forums. I'm interested in this one to replace my old MED500X, but I'd like to know if there is finally some sort of "recently watched" or "bookmark" list?

I don't mean the Watched icon, or the Favourites Manager. Just a simple list that pops up by clicking a button on the remote that shows me the last x number of movies I've recently stopped during playback so I can easily resume playback instead of browsing through all my folders again..

Please tell me this is available now? :)

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, shizzl, but not the one I was hoping for, hehe..

I've been requesting that feature for over 2 years now (and I'm not alone in wanting this feature) and still nothing.. Real shame as this seems like a very basic functionality that would greatly improve the user experience.

RealTek SDK limit? ROM-space limit? I don't know...

Still, the 1000X3 still looks like a nice piece of kit..
