This chip is nearly one year old.

Has the spec for 3D changed since then?  The chip hasn't changed but the software SDK has improved in that time.  Being first is not what Sanji are about...there are other dubious makes who use being first as the route to market share. Sanji would rather wait and deliver a  product they are happy with.

I would search for HDMI Splitter. Work really good, except if you use some kind of trulink etc (programm which should help that the communication between TV and player works fine).

He mentions that he doesn't want to buy additional gadgets, that is the whole point.

Instead it's a premium addition to the current X2 range and it's price will relect the superior casing and design.

Superior casing and design? I wouldn't like people asking me what I'm doing with a George Foreman grill in my living room.

You seem to be regurgitating some stupid comment made on some forum. The X3 is a highly elegant design that blends in very well with today's modern hi tech TV's and associated equipment. If you feel its not for you then that's ok but please stop being derogatory and keep your negative comments to yourself.

The whole  point about design is that some will love it and others hate it. You can say the same for Bang & Olufsen. Their prudcts are as much  a talking point for guests as functional.

At least I didn't read it on any other forum, so I seem not to be the only one with that opinion. The similarity is just quite striking.

My comment was not meant to be negative, I think the design is ok, although not overwhelming (in my eyes). I would anyway buy it 90% for its functionality, and not for its design. But my taste goes more into the "normal" X2 direction than the new design, I like it simple.

I will keep my X2, as I'm using my Oppo for 3D, or even the PS3, so I don't need to upgraded my Mede8er. Only depends if this new model can do other stuff better than the X2.

My first thought was, where was the Battle Bridge from ST-TNG!   My second that the sourcers from "Batteries not included" had left a  baby!  But it was meant in fun...rather than a critism.  Changing from a boring box is a bold move which many will applaud. The problem then is you can't then satisfy everyones perfect idea of what a non box player should look like.

ok - We move on. I think you need to see touch and hold the X3 and see its engineering and then comment. X3 vs X2 ?  Maasbommel already posted a list regarding the differences but besides this you would find the operation very similar but the X3 is a lot quicker due to the SDK we are using and the faster Processor and extra RAM..

I read the list.

I use the X2 mainly to watch movies, I would say about 98%. So I browse to my movie wall, takes 20 seconds, then I start my movie and watch it. I don't need it to be faster in that way.

Sorry if I offended you, it wasn't meant to be. I love your product(s).

hi guys...im a proud owner of 4 x mede8er 500x2s.....about the new 1000x3....wanted to know what is BD lite???
From my knowledge you will need java support in order to play a full bd iso with its menu content.....And todays bluray movies all need java supported players....How will this work on 1000x3??
Tnx

Realtek do not support Java..that is one aspect of bd lite.  Also 3d isn't supprted by the iso player if Bd Lite Menu is on. So you have to turn off the menu support to get 3D (and 24hz..which is an inherited problem from previous chips), when playing iso.

The bluray consortium want you to buy disk players..and use real disks. They want you to feel dissatisifed playing rips if they can...hence bd lite.

Dune get around this by registering their players (at your expense) as bluray disk players..and then make  the optical drive optional.

hi Mede8er1,
After reading X3's manual, I'd like to ask some question about X3.
- Wireles kit (minipcie) for X3, is it the same model as X2 ?
- is it a whole new skinpack for X3 or is it compatible with X2's skins?

It's decent design, just like my fanless PC (ThinClient), it use it's casing as heatsink.
But I was little shocked to know that it's "revolutionary" design comes out, as far we know that mede8er always had boxy design, with some additional features from it's predecessors, and yes, I like it more each day  ;)

Can't wait to try X3 :D

It seems that everyone who knew about the design didn't leak it out. Which  is amazing considering the number of websites which specialize in leaking tech info  about forth coming kit.

OH..and yes it uses the same pci-e card. There are issues with skins..hence the new X3 skinpack.  I'm sure Mede8er1 can share the corrections needed in the Skinning Group section.

1) PCIE WiFi Kit is the same as x2 ie MED20PCIE
2) The X3 skin is a little different but you could well update your X2 skins with just some changes to the Home Page. We have done our best to keep the image sizes and image names the same. X3 is very fast so we use the full screen for graphics on the Home Page ie 1280 x 820 pixels and the screen change is instant as you can see from some of the demo GUI videos.
3) Design is completely different from the 500 /300 Series and that was what we wanted, We are one of the last to release 1186 and our development has taken long as we do it our way. X3 is not a standard SDK 1186 and we have all our own unique coding that makes Mede8er superior.
4) X3 is a lifestyle product that is made from expensive materials in order to look and feel good but more importantly to protect the data on the HDD by keeping it cool and within temp limits.

Thanx Jer and Mede8er1,

I know there are reasons for Mede8er to release 1186 product so late (compare to another products, which released oct last year) , there was rumors around May, and yet, August is the day, so I expect more - especially firmware :)

Faster GUI is great, and it has full screen menu overlay, 1280x720 I guess  ;) it's been a while since skinpack competition ends, and skin-dev section has been quite since then  :P

Any Med owner will know that the first firmware is mainly just a port form the previous model.  There is 12 to 18 months of firmware development to go in the life of the model.  You shouldn't compare it with the latest firmware released for the X2...but the first.
