The MovieJukebox on the X3 works the same as on the X2.

If you have a main folder on your USB drives, e.g. Movies and you link that to the Favorites screen and then scan the shortcut, it will create a Mede8er.db in that Movies folder.
When you then plugin the usb drive, the favorite shortcut of that usb drive will come up on the Favorites screen and when you enter it, it will show you a Jukebox view of that drive. (it needs of course to have the generated .xml files in the movie folders and JukeBox mode set to on in setup menu).

I hope this explains how things will work.

Thanks for reply, will play when 1000 is delivered. My LG USB Blu-Ray RW is currently running on the (sorry...) PopcornHour without hassles. Will the 1000 support it?

I cannot answer this for sure, as I have no identical usb Blue-Ray drive myself, because I have a Media player with copies of those of my NAS.

But this is what I expect:
- it will not play copy protected Blue-Ray discs from your usb drive, simular to DVDs on the X2 and X1
- it might play non protected Blue-Ray discs if your usb Blue-Ray player is recognised by the X3.

The 1000X3 is not a replacement for the 500X2.

Just out of curiosity, can it do everything that the X2 can do?

Yes it can, but has extras as it has more capabilities with the 1186 chipset as presented in the teaser and added all differences I have noticed myself sofar (I might have missed some things...., so don't shoot me if I have):

+ fanless design, even with internal HDD
+ full 3D player with HDMI 1.4 interface
+ DD3 RAM  vs DD2 Ram on X2 ( Twice the speed)
+ GUI is 3D when playing 3D
+ aluminium special design case
+ very easy swap internal HDD Xbay, just open te bay with a button press and swap the disk
+ remote control with active backlight and programmable hot button
+ faster boot and GUI
+ better network copy and stream speed
+ better File Manager copy speed on HDD / USB
+ lipsync option in setup (possibility linked to the HDMI 1.4 interface)
+ improved DNLA DMC Upnp feature
+ new Internet Browser (faster) with Menu options and bookmark function
+ BD Menu on/off  'F3' button
+ possibility to disable PCIE Wifi card from boot
+ x.v. color supprt

+ BD Menu on/off  'F3' button

Only for the BD profile 1.0 I suppose, because as we know the Realtek chipset not supporting java and BD Live is not able to execute the Menu with the 2.0 profile and 5.
In this case we only have BD lite mode.

Right?    :)

G@@@@..Mf%%????////.

Sorry for cursing, i was waiting for a mede8er to come out with a 3D mediaplayer TV. I didn't by the X2 last year because of that. Last May there was no indiction yet that they were coming with a 3D version, So i regret to say i was impatienced and bought the Hi-media 9000B.  Oke water under the bridge.

Since I had the uportinity to try out a 3D media player I know now what i need in 3D mediaplayer, Maybe some people wil concurre with me and som people will say you are wrong.

My A/V media receiver is has everyting but is HDMI 1.3 so There is no pass through for 3D movies. I worked arround that and connected an optic fibre cable to the receiver for sound and the HDMI directly to TV. Now i lost the possibillity to listen in 7.1 or DTS-HD or dolby true HD and other sound formats that are  not DTS or DD5.1 because a optic fibre because of the limits. A new A/V receiver with 3D pass through costs around 500 EUR. A HDMI splitter costs around 120 EUR.

I would have prefferd to see the new MED1000X3D with 2 HDMI outputs so people like me won't have to by additional gadgets, i know it is possible because Hi-media has a media player with 2 outputs.

But mayby in the futher I will switch back to Mede8ter , because there is no better media player on the market( not very sattisfied with my Hi-media).

Best regards

Steven

Every user has their own requirements. Those who find "any" product dosn't satisfy their partucluer needs may decide the manufacturer has got the design "wrong".   If any product was designed to  satisfy every users particuler needs it would then be too expensive for every user.   The thing is every user spotting a deficiency thinks only their deficiency should have been addressed..so  that costs didn't escalate.

It'a bit like top  end hi-fi.  There was a time when you couldn't buy a Linn Sondek  LP12 unless they decided the rest of your kit would get the best out of it...so  that users didn't start to complain it wasn't as good as they thought.   So perhaps Sanji  are expecting the X3  to only be used with HDMI 1.4 amps...

Yes it can, but has extras
So the truth is that the X3 is a replacement for the X2? I mean, if it can do everything the X2 can and more, then why would we need to keep the X2 at all?

Becuase it comes down to choice. There are still those who don't want or need 3D..and who don't want to pay the extra for a premium product. There will be some who decide they like the design, and don't care if it supports 3D or not.

Simular to why there is an 400X2, 500X2, 450X2.
Different needs, different specs, different price.

The X3 extends the range of products where consumers can make a choice of depending on their needs and what they want to spent.

Ok, so I worded things wrong. It "can" replace the X2, but doesn't "have" to replace the X2 :D

When jer1956 said that it's not a replacement, I thought that I would have to keep both devices...

It can replace a 500 X2 if a user should chose. It won't replace the 500x2 in the Med range.

for 300€ you can build a HTPC? Ha, sorry I just build one. The case alone was in my case 140€. Silent fans, HDD etc. I would say 500-600€ is more realistic. For a fanless solution with a quick swap drive this price is fair. Although I must say I would have hoped that the next range of Realtek chipsets would be finished when this box (or aany other new medx's) would come out. This chip is nearly one year old.

I would have prefferd to see the new MED1000X3D with 2 HDMI outputs so people like me won't have to by additional gadgets, i know it is possible because Hi-media has a media player with 2 outputs.

I would search for HDMI Splitter. Work really good, except if you use some kind of trulink etc (programm which should help that the communication between TV and player works fine).
