MED1000X3D does not offer Android as we using a new SDK without Android. The new SDK is more stable and a lot faster than the Android version. The reason is that the 1186+Android SDK was totally unstable once we added the Mede8er code and we had to dump nearly 4 months work. Most of the brands including the ones you mention use a stock standard 1186 SDK + Android and  they are very limited in functionality ie No Jukeboxes and other special Mede8er stuff.

In my personal opinion the Android on 1186 is a joke and I dont think you would really use it anyway. It firstly increases the boot time to unacceptable levels and secondly its rather limited as its a MIPS based Android and will not run any ARM based apps. Its also a very old version of Android so not really up to date.

Couldn't agree more. Tried Android on HiMedia's HD900B and Micca's EP600G2. Okay, you can load some APK's like 'Angry Birds' and 'Fruit Slice', but not much use beyond that. With Android enabled, the boot up time is significantly longer and the GUI is sluggish. If you really want Android on your TV, something like the Pivos XIOS-DS may be more suitable. It's at an immature state as well however.

The wife has one very important question that I could not answer. How much in dollars is this thing going to cost? Felt like a fool when she asked. I just told her I assume maybe a few dollars more than the 500x was.
Allow me to answer my own question...just in case anyone else might also be wondering.:P After doing MUCH investigating, I finally found a place that acts as though they intend to sell this thing in North America. http://mediaconceptusa.com/mede8er.html They say it is expected to cost "around $220 +/-". I guess the fantasitc economy is making nearly everyone skiddish about jumping into stocking these. The place where I bought the 500x (Gizmodaddy) seems to not be intending to stock Mede8ers (or much else) at all anymore. Sad because they were very good to do business with.

Was scary to see 4299.88 rippers or whatever that is on the Mede8er site. Wife said no way to $4000 for a picture viewer. Glad to see rippers are worth about as much as pesos. :D We are still in.....waiting.........waiting.
