Hi all,

I bought the Mede8er 500x2 today and am testing all sorts of things atm.
I encountered a problem with the subtiles on a Side by Side 3d movie tho i'll explain what happens:

Files
movie is .mkv
i got a .srt 2d sub and a idx/vob 3d sub (on vlc it diplays the sub 2x on each side)

when i play the movie i ofc see 2x the movie sidebyside, ofc the 2d sub is in the middle, but the 3d sub is (unlike in vlc displayed on each side) mede8er already merged them to the middle.

now my problem kicks in, i now have to turn the TV to 3d mode which merges the 2 movie sides into 1, but because mede8er already had the 3d sub merged into the middle it now displays half/half on the far left and right

is there any way for mede8er med500x2 not the pre-merge the 3d subs?
or any other solutions?

i use 3d subtitler for my 3rd subs (eg. 2d srt to 3d idx/vob)

Thnx in advance,
Aapjuh

A true 3D player should take single subtitles and display them so that  the 3D tv can then merge then as 3d subtitles. The 1185 chip is not a 3D chip.  Instead "you" have to create SBS subtiles, where you see the substile replicated both left and right. There are tools which will do this.

thnx for the reply,

as i  explained in the OP, i already used such programs to make the subs 3d, (3d subtitler)
on the pc they work as the should so:
___________
|movie|movie|
|Sub    |   Sub|

but mede8er does:
___________
|movie|movie|
|        Sub      |

so when i turn the tv to 3d mode:
      ___________
      |      movie     |
half|sub        sub |half

so i'll have to wait for when they release mediabox chips for 3d? any timespan info?

The 1185 is not 3d aware...if will treat the SBS 3d subtitles as 2d..i.e two sets side by side.  It won't merge them to a single set of 2d ones. You must have a 2d set in use.

2d srt
http://www.mediafire.com/?be850otza3v94fi   srt

side by side (subs on either side)
http://www.mediafire.com/?ig90l4p1ke9hg51   idx
http://www.mediafire.com/?97709pw48pjuurj   vob

aligned to left side ssa
http://www.mediafire.com/?rw0lo8v68wu6ug0    ssa

they are for Movie: john carter but will work with most vids on vlc

all of these get placed in the middle (the sidebyside sub might be the 2 subs are in the middle overlapping) by mede8er,
i also noticed mede8er completely ignores the sub makeup/layout which is baked into the sub  (i.e.: red text, huge font, font style)

Is the movie appearing in 3d..with wrong subtitles, or 2d with centered subtitles?  What do you see if you  turn off auto 3d detection in the TV?

An x2 cannot handle Full HD SBS. Others have said that all you get is the left (or right image) displayed as 2d.

the movie is .mkv 1920x800
when the tv went in 3d mode it was in perfect 3 with glasses on, only the subs failed

anyhow i found a solution i'll share it below i combined things from those 2 sites:

http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=47904
http://3dvision-blog.com/5520-mkv-file-container-support-for-stereo-3d-video-and-the-mk3d-files/

tho i have no clue about the mk3d part i skipped that part ^^
