HI there

I am installing some IP cameras and was wondering if I could use them to stream video feed directly to my TV via a mede8ter on Upnp?  Has anyone done this or does anyone know if it is possible and if so how to set it up?

I do not have a Mede8ter yet but if this can work it will save me thousands on PC hardware...

Thanks
Paul

Not directly.  You would have to have some kind of software on a PC which  generates a file that can be played..so  the software is creating the file whilst the med is playing it.

Thanks.  So it is this easy?  I run one of these servers and Med will pick it up automatically and bob's your uncle?

Nothing is ever that easy. The more complex the software, the more likly what you want to do is not the default feature..and needs configuring to work.  That's why lots of software comes as trialware or shareware...you can see if it will work  before buying.

The med450X2 has internet browsing capabilities.  Can I use this functionality to physically browse to my IP cameras?

No..as the browser has no inbuilt media facilities, or links to the media chip.  IPTV's dosn't worlk like a PC..with everything being integrated via the OS.  With IPTV each source is sand boxed..running in it's own seperate and isolated task.  You get the same limitation with all IPTV devices, including Samsung, Panasonic and Sony Smart Tv's.

Those IP cameras use specific active_x applet plugins, which you cannot install in the mede8ers browser.
So that will not work.
