There is no gurentee..this is when you need an external installer who would have to keep trying different things until one worked.

..sorry, misread your post..you already have the cheap repeater and it dosn't help.

You would have to try with a short cable first. If the problem is bad HDCP logic in the optomer chip..you will still have a problem with a 1 or 3 m cable..and so  any solution is going to  fail.

Hi Guys

Great news, i managed to sort the issue out  Cool

I turned off the "Deep Color" setting on the 500X2 and it started working immediately   Grin

What does the "Deep Color" do ?

Would i ever need it

1 Last thing while i'm at it, can i use a USB hub on the 500X2

If so, is there any specific thing to look out for when buying one ?

Thanks Again for the help guys  Smiley

You would  need  10 or 12 bit video...of which  there is next to nothing. Standard video is 8 bit.  You also  need a display which displays 10 or 12 bit video. Most just down convert back to 8 bit, even if they  say  they can handle deep  colour.

So we have an explantion for poor HDCP handshaking with some displays..HDMI overload.

I believe the PS3 shows similar issues with the Deep Color setting, most guys just turn it off

By leaving it off, will it affect the videos ?

Is the difference a big one ?

i played a few test videos and it still looked pretty good

Yip, HDMI overload by the sounds of things

Do you perhaps know about the HUB in my previous post

The problem is that recent HDMI interfaces can handle  deep colour...even if neither the source or display actually uses 10 or 12 bit video. So the sources converts 8 bit to 10 or 12 to the match  the HDMI interfaces on the display, and the display converts it back.

Few media companies are going to produce 10 or 12 bit disks as most users will only have TV's which work internally at 8 bit, even if the interface says deep colour.  It would also  require films to  be split over two disks.

So it's like a vicious cycle  Wink

I will leave it off for now, i can't really see any difference for now so doesn't bother me lol

I'm just happy it works and i don't have to send it back  Smiley

Any help on the USB hub part will be much appreciated

Thanks Again  Cool

Pretty much any powered USB 2.0 hub should work fine.
