i have updated the firmware of my 500x to v.4.05. since the update the folder lock option doesnt work. i can select it and give in the password but when i open the folder i want to be locked it just opens without asking the password. also the " already watched" indicator doesnt work.

The NTFS you have from the previous firmware has decrepancies which  make files have properties they should not have.  You can try fixing it using NTFSfix, or backup, and reformat the drive using 4.0.5.
