Hello All,

I would love to see someone develop an app like the "Dune Media Controller".

This functionality would allow me to keep my large tv switched off and still play all my music. On Mede8er it is really missed.

A nice app with proper message would benefit sales as well i would guess.

regards

What are seeking could only be accomplished using a DLNA compliant Digital Media Controller. your music should then be available through a DLNA Digital Media Server and played by your Mede8er acting as Media Rendere.

There are several applications that can act as a DMC but, since you didn't specify any OS or platform, it's impossibile to give you any suggestion.

I agree with you that a dedicated, Mede8er branded, application will probably help boosting sales, especially if made available for portable devices such smartphones and tablets; maybe a poll among Mede8er's users would help establish how strong is the need for such a feature, so developers could figure out if there's a market for that or not...

Once you have a complex home theater network having device specific DMC's becomes a pain..as you need to use different ones to do the same thing with different devices. Also  those (mainly android users) who are using generic DMC's are free to use anyone that works.  It we asked which  features of "their" favourite DMC they would want to see in a Med DMC, to attract them to stop using a generic DMC.....we would end up with a DMC far more complex than any other out there. If we didn't give them  those features..many  would go back to their generic DMC..and all the effort would have been wasted.

Part of me thinks the big companies are producing company specefic DMC's to make the uninformed think they can only network devices from them together.  So in order to have a single DMC..users end up with everthing from Panasonic, or Samsung or Sony.

Thanks for your thoughts. I have now learned the term DMC and DMR.. That helps a lot allready I presume.

I found the link http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php?topic=6695.0 which I will first give try now.

I now have my 500X2 with Wifi attached by using an audio cable to my Hifi System

With that it would be fantastic and very easy to 1) browse the Med, 2) play music on my hifi. This is how I think the solution from Dune works and that is really inituitive.

Please try the link in the earlier post. Generic DLNA tools are   used for this. There is no need for explicit company tools. I find it strange when so may people integrate their remote function on to a third party learning remotes that some would be  happy to have infividual tools on thier phone for every pievce of networked home thater kit they have.

Unreal has added some   useful replies to that linked Tip, showing how you can perform functions not avaible via the Med GUI using an external DMC.
