Can't write to Mede8er MED500x2 internal HD
« on: May 29, 2012, 04:38:49 PM »
Just got my 500x2 (upgraded it to 2.0.7) and working great if it wasn't for just one thing. I can on my computer (running win7) see the internal HD in the 500x2 but can't write to it.

Is the some sort of switch I have to turn off in the 500x2 before I can write to the internal HD ?

What messages do you get when you try to access the disk over the network?
Or do you mean you have issues to write on the internal disk using usb cable?

Says access denied. Might be worth mentioning that I'm trying over Wireless.

So I'm trying too move files from my main computer to the internal HD on the 500x2 via the Wireless connection.

Could be I'll get a different result if I tried wired, but wireless is to prefer over the wired considering the daily use of the network.

The 500x2 can access my NAS and also 2 HD connected to my router, so wireless seems to be working fine.

Which server have you turned on in the X2?  Can you see the drive in Windows Explorer, or Windows Mediplayer?

Turned on the NAS Mode as I were told to do in a guide I saw here in the forum. And I can see the drive in Windows Explorer not in the Media Player though

What is the name of the drive you see from Windows Explorer?
Is it HDD1 or mentioned other?

Have you tried to connect to the drive by ip number of your mede8er?
So open windows Explorer and type \\ipnumber in the browser bar.

It's called HDD1 and using //192.168.1.137 (the IP adresses) brings up the HDD1 icon and also shows my usb stick called USB1.
I can got into it HDD1, just can't create a new map or copy anything to it, but can do that on the USB stick. It's like the 500x2 is write proctecting the HD

Now I dragged a cabel all the way from the router to the 500x2 and seems that I can copy to the HD now, so seems 'only' to be a wireless problem  :(.

Can also copy a stuff to the HD using the File Manager in the 500x2 (wireless).

So only a wireless issue, the Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 works fine.

Hi,
does anyone have solution to the "HDD writing problem"?

I connect to my MED500X2 using wifi. I have access to my internal drive (HDD1 - formatted in MED500X2) and USB (USB1) but i can' t write anything to Hdd or to USB.
I  can read files from both drives, delete them, just can't write anything.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Upgrade to 2.1.0 or 2.1.1 and use the NTFScheck function.
