I have mede8er500x with internal HDD

NAS was working fine until one day my HDD vanished and NAS was no longer working

I did a clean FW install and format the HDD in mede8er but NAS is still not working

when using Mede8er HDD Connector v1.0.1

it shows me this:

Code:
The requested name is valid and was found in the database, but it does not have the correct associated data being resolved for
Did you change the name of your device

I click OK

and the status is:

Code:
(Error) Autodetection failed

of course I didnt change anything, NAS is on, my computer is in the correct WORKGROUP, everything is the same as before when it was working

for a mediaplayer of this range for something like NAS not to work is just not right!

And the best thing is from the mede8er I can access and play files from anyplace on my home network, but just cant access mede8er

and dont get me started on the problem if I want to transfer some files from my PC to internal HDD with USB cable, not possible!!!

That is just plain wrong!

If you google you will see this is a windows caching problem. It now considers the Med with new firmware as a new device and has records for a device it considers no longer to be there.

Can you see the Med NAS in Workgroup at the Med end? Can you access the internal drive that way?  That would show that the NAs is working.

You can try power cycling the  router to clear out old records.

I tryed power cycling the router and all but no help, I can see mede8er in the WORKGROUP network from my mede8er but when I try to access it asks for username and password, I didnt put any so I dont know what to enter

If I leave it blank its Login Failed

THe share login request means you are suffering for DNS server issues..and known problem for some users updating to 4.4/4.0.5.

Some suggestions:
- reset your networks by:
* bring all down, pc, mede8er and your network router/internet modem
* first start your internet modem/router, when all up
* start your pc, when fully up
* start your mede8er

That should rule out any network caching issues. Retry to see if you are able to connect again to your shares and vice versa to your mede8er internal disk

Some ideas:

- reinstall latest 4.0.5 again and don't use gui update method in setup. Use recovery mode to install the firmware. (from standby pressing the power key for 20 secs with usb stick with firmware install.img on it)
- check if you have no firewall blocking samba ports on your pc
