Big 8 screen displaying but not getting past that

Hi there,

We were watching a movie and put the mede8ter on pause while we had supper. When we got back to it, it responded to one or two keypresses and then froze. I pulled the power and replugged and now it only gets to the Big 8 screen, the (analogue) TV displays the big 8, the L+R channels show on the TV, but it never gets any further - it looks like it's cycling over and over though I can't be sure. I've unplugged the thing, replugged and held the on-off for 10 seconds, the blue power light goes off, and then nothing. I've left it like that for 5 minutes to see whether it recovers. Nada.

I can't even tell you what f/w version I'm running because I can't get that far. I don't understand what could have happened to it.

I'm downloading 2.0.7 (it's a MED500x2) to see whether that fixes it, but it's a strange one.

Any help appreciated.

I expect you pressed the power button to long and this triggered fw recovery mode.
You then will not get further then the 8 logo because it is waiting for an usb stick with firmware on it.

So you are on the right track - install 2.0.7 should solve your current issue and get you back out firmware recovery mode.
