Hi,

Yesterday i bought an Mede8er 400x2. Today i tried to connect it to my pc to share films etc. Because I live in a student unit I only have 1 network port, but I bought a Sitecom switch so my Mede8er connect to the same network. But I can't get my Mede8er to connect to my pc. I followed all these steps: http://www.mede8er.nl/forum/13-10100-netwerk-a-internet-problemen/22-bestanden-delen-windows-7-mbt-streaming.html  (scroll down for english).

During the following step i found some difficulties:

Last step: Get access from your mede8er:
1. Goto the Network menu
2. Select WORKGROUP and select the Win7 PC with ok. (or add PC in Shortcut menu as described here if you don't see workgroup and pc: www.mede8erforum.com/index.php?topic=47.0)

The network menu didn't show WORKGROUP, so I manually added the pc with a new created User Account named Mede8er, I shared the map which contained my downloads. But when I tried to connect the Mede8er showed Logon Fail at the top of the screen. Can anyone help me? Sorry for any language mistakes, I'm Dutch.

Thanks in advance!

Before you can share..you have to become part of the Network. So  can you post details of your Network..e,g, router..and how you get a lan IP for the X2 etc.

As you seems to be Dutch, suggest to call the Dutch Mede8er support line -
http://www.mede8er.nl/contact.html

Open from 09-21 on working days. I am sure they can help to get this going fast.
Troubleshooting network config issues by forum can be a lengthy process if not all variables are known from start.

Hi,
I just hope someone can help me...
I bought Mede8er 500X2, after being quite happy with 500X. I kept wireless dongle for use with X2 and at the beginning all seems fine - until trying to connect to PC.
Now - whatever I do, I cannot see mede8er on my PC, nor can I see PC's shared folders on my Mede8er. I got my NAS on, folders are shared, network is working...
After several days of trying different solutions, I found that I can connect to network (and being visible both on my PC and Mede8er) only if is shut down the Mede8er, make power off, leave for few seconds and then restart the Mede8er. Then I must go to Setup - Network - Wireless, where setup indicates as being OFF. Now changing this to ON and run test - it works! Mede8er now connected to PC, works like a charm - until Mede8er or PC is switched OFF, of course. Then I have to repeat the procedure again...
I'm sure there's a better way to deal with this problem, ha??

WIN 7, 64bit
Mede8er 500X2, FW 2.0.7.
Belkin N1 Router

Question to get an idea what is going on:

When you power off your mede8er (to standby) and power it up again.
Are you then able to connect to your PC shares?
Check the network info screen on your mede8er, does it have an ip number?
From your pc: are you able to ping the ip number you saw above?

Hi Maasbomel,
thanks for your quick feedback!

So... When I set Mede8er to stand-by and then ON again, I cannot connect to PC. Also Network Info screen shows no IP (N/A)...

I have contacted also Mede8er support, they suggest to change FW version to 1.0.3. first, and then to 2.0.7... which I did. Now cannot connect to PC even if power off... Had to do it several times to get lucky and finally connect. Huh... getting really frustrated...but I'm sure you've got an ace in your sleeve...

How did you install the FW?
Did you use recovery mode or did you update using the GUI setup option to upgrade/downgrade?

If you used GUI methode, please update again and user recovery fw update.
(usb stick attached only in standby and then hold the power button on the front 20 secs and let it update).

Don't use config restore option, but setup all manually again.

Another question: are there more usb devices connected next to your usb wifi key?
Another question: did you try to put the wifi stick in the other usb port?

Also: are you using DHCP setup or do you use manual ip setup on your mede8er?
Your problems sound like DHCP is not working properly after you go to standby as you dont get an ip when you are booted again. Does your router has an option to lock mac address always to the same ip?
If so, please give that a try.

Another option could be to connect by wifi using fixed ip settings and gateway settings on your mede8er and verify if it keeps the same ip address after a reboot.
