Mede8er Crashes when browsing network folders

Hi, I have recently purchased a Mede8er 500X2 (without the hard drive). All my media is stored on a Windows 2003 Enterprise server. I have added shortcuts to the favourites folder and I can browse and display my photos. However, every now and then after viewing some photos and then returning to the previous folder, the Mede8er reboots itself

I am using V2.07 firware and I have used the Mede8er network port to connect to my home network. Is this a hardware problem or is it possibly a firmware bug?

Hi Tommo,

Did you add the network link to the shares by workgroup browse or by My_shortcut network method?

Try by My_shortcut method as shown in this demo:

And after you created the link like that, create shortcuts to the favorite screen by going to your share over the My_shortcut link, not by browsing over workgroup.

Then verify again if you see this instability.

Thanks for the response. I followed the following instructions from the user manual

Setting up Samba shortcuts on the Mede8er
Select ‘Network’ and then select the ‘My_Shortcuts’ icon. Now press the ‘Menu’ button
and select ‘Add New Shortcut’ option. Fill in the fields User Name, Password, IP
Address (Host Machine), and select ‘OK’

I then added three shortcuts to the favourite screen; one for video, one for photos and one for music.

I have removed my shortcuts and followed the demo below but still have the same problem. It reboots after browsing one or two folders, which is getting rather annoying. Any other suggestions?

What is your router, and how  do you allocate IP settings to the X2?  Unrealiblity is often due to using the wrong DNS server setting in the X2....that is  not allocated by DHCP..you have to change it manually.

Thanks jer1956, problem sorted. I was using DHCP.

I changed to a static ip address and DNS server setting. Initially the problem persisted but after deleting and re-creating the shortcuts the rebooting problem was resolved. Thanks again

Did u use wired network?, not wifi? when u set the static settings.
