hi all,
bit of a novice...and i've read a few posts regarding stuttering but dont know what to do in my case
..i've a med 500x connected with ethernet cable (i checked with the supplier that it could handle hd - Cat. 5e)
to my win 7 hp prolient via my sky broadband router
have been streaming files fine until i did some rips of my blu rays...(mostly Mkvs) sometimes some files start to play fine ..as long as i dont fast forward or browse in and out of other blu ray ripped files....then start to stutter

.....tried to watch saving private ryan today and the stuttering of a mkv file was terrible...especially during the 'shaky cam' beach scenes.
...tried a direct 'bluray disc' copy of the same film...which played better with the odd stutter...then as the film went on 10 or 15 mins it got really unwatchable
...once the stuttering of any files starts then any other  blu rip files which are tried do the same

if anyone could offer any help to a novice it would be most appreciated

cheers

There may not be one which matches exactly but you will see what tweaks people have had to do  to achieve the perfromance they have.

If you looked at the example Networks you will see that bluray HD is borderline with an X1. You often  have to  rip out audio and just use a .TS file to get them to stream.

putting the gigabit switch before the router...then a cable to the mede8er seems to have cured....saving private ryan...biggest problem rip so far...full hd sound and picture streamed fine with no stutter for the 1/2 hour i tried it

well...saga continues
...streamed a couple of full hd picture and sound rips which have played fine until about 3/4 the way through the film then the box has froze....have to pull the power cable...reboot ...then fast wardward to the scene it froze on ....then it plays fine for the rest of the movie

....honestly if it aint one thing its another  Sad
