Been trying to get updated version for my 500X, copied install file to a flash drive but player won't update.
How do create a root directory on the flash drive?

Use the HP formatting tool (seach firmware downloads) and reformat the stick. We find it best to user older, slower sticks. check that the firmware is detected first by using "Setup USB install" to check if it can detect the firmware. If that can't..then Emergency Install is also  going to have a problem.  Some people have to try a lot of sticks...having only modern sticks which might be too fast.
