500x2.. few questions
« on: April 02, 2012, 09:26:35 AM »
Hi all

Recently got the 500xt - great product! Whips the limited playback I had on the PS3 and the MViX by a long shot! I can now watch MKV woohoo!

Couple of things:

I bought the device from Cats Digital in Greenstone - the package was already open, all the components (device, keyboard, cables etc) were open.. when I asked about this, they said they test each unit before selling incase it doesnt work - which I thought was a load of crap, but anyways.. I bought the "special", the device with the keyboard and wireless ability.. what exactly was supposed to come with the wireless ability? All I got was a small antena..??

I can't get my bluetooth wireless keyboard to work and I can't find instructions on how to pair the device with the 500x2. The one set of instructions I found says to plug in the keyboard to the device using the cable.. which I did, all it does is show the charging light.. when I switch on the keyboard, it shows the bluetooth light, but I cannot navigate the device. Please assist

Then some feature stuff:

It says in a review that it tracks what I've watched and shows me if I've watched a certain movie already - how do I see this? All the files/folders look exactly the same in both watched and unwatched items. Is this feature only available in a certain view mode?

Is it possible to set a max volume? Ie: some movies, if poorly recorded will have foreground sounds much softer than background music.. so its quite annoying when the movie cuts to say an action scene only to have the music blarring at a much louder volume than when people are speaking.. so is it possible to auto adjust this?

Some movies have out of sync lip-audio.. is it possible to re-sync? Like manually delaying the audio until its correct with the lip movement?

Thanks!

1) Bundles are not created in the factory and placed in a nice celophane covered box with a big "includes...." on the side. Bundles are put together by the main distibuters..so that means the X2 box has to opended to put in a drive and the pci-E wi-fi.  It makes sense to drop in the keybaord whilst they are it it for such a bundle.

2)Read the pci-e installtion instrcutions on the forum to see where the pci-e aerial screws.

3) There is no bluetooth support.  Any USB keybaord can be used..including those using USB wi-fi dongles.  You have the Med2key so you should use that.

4) Have you turned on the watched flag in Setup?

5) Only a surround amp can change how much loud and soft differs. The audio DSP in the X2 isn't clever enough for that.

6) Lip sync. Lip sync can only be gurentted using none transcoded dvd or bluray rips attached to a TV which uses CEA_EDID audio  delays.   Badly encoded MKV's with the X2 attached to a 3D TV expecting HDMI 1.3 lip sync are going to be a problem.

What does the pci-E wi-fi look like? Note sure I received that, as I said, I got a small screw-in aerial.. is this the same thing?

The Med2Key is what I have, wasnt aware of the watched flag, will try that this eve post my results

If the pcie card is already built in to your X2, it will have some round screw on the back where you can fit the aireal antenne on.

You can find a manual with pictures here:

Hi M4nimal

With regards to the keyboard... Plug in the USB receiver (you should be able to find it 'plugged into' the top of the Med2Key) into the Mede8er (extension cable is optional). Then switch on the keyboard. The LED will blink while searching for the USB receiver, and stop blinking once paired. This happens automatically.

According to this post (http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,351.msg41042.html#msg41042) the Rii was not supported on the MED400, but according to jer's response (just below) it should be supported on the X2 range...

Thanks for answering...However, which one will work: the bluetooth version or the wireless version or both?

And how about this remote/keyboard?

http://www.pulse-eight.com/store/products/96-motorola-nyxboard-remote-designed-for-xbmc.aspx#overview

I'm needing a RF/wireless remote and from what i've seen, the keys used by medee8er and xbmc are all almost the same (only a slight diference in the shutdown key).

Also, can the med2key power on the mede8er, or does it just powers it off?
