setup: 400x2 - wired connection to NAS using private folder(s) - HDMI/TOS pass-through
basic functions appear OK music jukebox: I did follow the instructions but after reboot, no .DB file was created.
the 400x2 does have write permissions on the folder but NOT on it's parent: could this be an issue?
Can you try tagscanner and see if that creates XML?

I know that's gonna work as for TagScanner, I'm using anohter NAS (admin) account ;-D But it looks like the (lack of) write permissions causes the problem, currently investigating ...

Tagscanner is also a diagnostic. We can't inspect a failed database..but we can look at the XML..and see if we can then see why the mp3 scanner failed.

When I'm listening to music and exit the music folder, the music stops playing. With 2.0.3 the music kept playing until I opened up the internet or started viewing a movie (or started another track, obviously ). Is there some setting I have missed or is this normal now? There is no way to get back to jukebox player if you exit when playing music, despite trying to replicate the Audio button appraoch. Also we then ended up with two threads, the player, and the GUI, using the database..and this created the occasional problem. So users either use Jukebox Player, or exit it completely.
I like the 2.0.3 (and some of 2.0.4 beta) in music playing behaviour, back button will not stop the music, I can continue browsing another song and press enter to change track. So, this is a bug, or something new ?

It's actually a very old issue that Shizzl pointed out. You could leave the old music player..but couldn't get back. The solution that could be implemented then was the Audio button., which would get you back. So we had two issues, trying to re-connect using Audio just kept crashing the Jukebox, and two, we would get unexplanable hangs if you tried to browse the database, whilst the player was also using it. These things do not handle multiple threads very well.
How broad is your browsing? Do you just want to jump about an artists tracks..or ransdomly dip into your whole collection? You can browse a lot of tracks if you browse within player using QPL to load it.
If we said on exiting player..the player no longer uses the database .i.e. it plays the current track and stops..would that be enough? It might be able to just go through the file list without using the database at all..and then stop.
The way you where using it before..didn't the list empty when you decided to play another track or album via the GUI?

Copying files over the network-from PC to disc 500x2 (RJ45 cable) I get only 7.5 Mb / s using TeraCopy and the Windows Explorer (7 Sp1). There will be something slow? Gave way might be faster!
What speeds can you guys?

That is a good rate for an X2 using the 1185 chip. The 1073 in the X1 could only manage around 4.5 mb/sec.

But why so slow, since the Lan goes up to 100 Mb / s? When I had a egreat M34A also did not go beyond 4.5 Mb / s to copy files over the network to the internal disk. I think too slow, even at 7.5 Mb / s

Becuase there is no dedicated lan chip in there. Everthing is basically simple interfaces using code running on the support processor. Unlike a NAS..a mediaplyers processor is puny..and the main bottleneck. So the thoughput has gone up in proportion to the increase in processor power between the 1073 and the 1185.
Networking is there to support streaming. The NAS function is only there becuase streaming is supported, not the other away around.

3 Questions:
1. Now that came out a new firmware, user's manual will also be updated?
2. Is there any way to reboot the player, not with the typical turn off / on the remote control? Some script or anything similar ... This and to avoid forcing the disc to turn off / on again
2. Since I am very novice when it comes to configuring networks, needed a little help setting up the Network (IP's and DNS), in the 500x2. Right now I have everything on automatic. The Youtube XL together with the wireless keyboard works relatively well, at least stream usually does (notice the lack FullScreen button. In 500x2 not appear to me, and Browser / PC aparace.
Twitter could not log in I could log in facebook, but when nothing comes of 81% and completely blocks, and did not do anything consifo the reader, it is not off the chain.

1. see the firmware download post, the link to the manuals is there. 2. no. 3. Re Youtube zoom, you asked that before in another thread, and this was anwered: http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,7325.msg51152.html#msg51152For netwerk help, suggest to make a separate post and not to jump into this feedback topic. It will get messy and difficult to follow. This is a feedback topic and not a support topic.

I tested the new music jukebox with only two albums, one with mp3 files and one with m4a files. Every thing looks great and the mp3 files works fine. But when I try to play the m4a files it says "Invalid file" whats wrong? I converted the files to FLAC and they work.

Does the same m4a file play when you try to play it from media library and not from music jukebox?

Did the conversion remove DRM?

No, it don't work from media library either. I have tested several files from other albums but no one works. I used iTunes to rip my CDs to apple lossless.
