Hi

Received my 400X2 yesterday, after being very happy with 400X and fancying an upgrade.

Came with v1.0.1, which I decided to update tonight. Big mistake Sad

The emergency route just would not work, so I did it through the USB update option in the Setup menu. This appeared to work ok.

However, I was playing a video, which suddenly froze. I waited awhile then hard rebooted as wasn't getting any response.

Now, when I turn it on, I get the Mede8er logo, but not as we know it!. It's green and pink and the background in all blue. And it just stays there, it doesn't boot up.

I fear I may have a faulty unit.

Before I send it back and get a replacement, has anyone else had anything similar?

Cheers
Brad

Can you now "upgrade" using emergency? Do you have a stick with a led on it?  Another way of timing the power hold is to press/hold and wait for the USB stick led to come on...and then count to 3.

Unfortunately not. Trying multiple reboots at the moment but no joy.

EDIT: LED doesn't seem to come on no matter how long I'm holding the power button for.

The bootloader code  dosn't like the stick..but the main code  does. It's different code. Try a different stick.

Have you removed all other usb devices when trying emeregency?

Also you could try with the TV off..and hdmi cable removed.   You won't see anthing...but it might get the stick led to come on by bypassing  the HDMI code.  So you get the stick led on...count to 3..take your finger off...and then hope it installs.  It should take 10 mins...so give it 20...then power off...and re-connect the HDMI.

No joy - USB light wouldn't come on. Would reformatting the stick help? Any particular method?

Many thanks...reformatting. Have also sent the misses to Tesco to buy a new one, so with a bit of luck I'll be reporting success back at some point tonight!

Unfortunately, neither my reformatted stick or a brand new one have worked, so I'm at a dead end now.

Any last options before I request a replacement?

Many thanks for all your help so far, really appreciated.

Do you have an SD memory card?
You can also try to load the install.img firmware file from that.

Just tried this but no luck I'm afraid.

I've tried different combinations of leads in/out, tried different HDMI leads, so am at a loss now.

Guess I will just have to return this one.

Thanks again for all the advice.

Hello folks. Just wanted to provide an update on this. Mede8er folks have provided  great service and I received a replacement unit, which is up and running now on 2.0.3 and I'm loving it. I can finally flog the POHDMini2 on eBay!
