Hi,

Long story short I convinced a relative to update his aged MviX media player to something that can handle HD content. After much research I decide the Mede8er MED250X offered the best bang for buck solution for him.

Now I am busy setting up the player for him i.e. filling it with content. I used YAMJ To Mede8er V2.0.0 to create the about.jpg, folder.jpg and .xml files (which worked perfectly BTW thanks).

Now the way I understand it it that in Thumbnail mode the movie poster shows up as the folder icon (which it does) and then once you open the folder it shows the about.jpg with the movie details then you can select to play it. However, when I open the folder it shows the contents of the folder instead to the about.jpg image.

Am I doing something wrong? Does this option only work in "Media Library" or "Movie" as well?

Please excuse me if this is a silly question, but I am a bit overwhelmed by all the info I have read this week about the various multi-media players.

Cole

The MED250X works like this once you have used Y2M to get the folder.jpg and about.jpg

In Thumbnail View it will display the first image found in Alphabetic order within the folder so you will see the about.jpg as Thumbnails. If you press the 'Slow' button on the Remote it will zoom the About.jpg (Moviesheet) to full screen and here you have two option

a) Press Enter or Play to play the Movie
b) Press the Nav up/ Down and browse by Moviesheet and then press Play or Enter on the Moviesheet you want to Play

I hope this explains it clearly for you

It shows the images in Alphabetic order in thumbnail mode .... that is a bit confusing since the folder.jpg usually shows in thumbnail mode  Huh

I did try the "Slow" button however it started playing the movie for some reason.

OK, I admit it was late and I didn't have much time to play around with it  Grin

But, at least you have confirmed that the function should work. Thank you for the quick response.

Looking at getting myself the 500x2 next month (to replace my PS3 / PS3 Media Server setup) if all goes well with the 250x   Wink

OK the artwork ect is working, however I now have a much bigger issue.

When I try and open the HDD in Thumbnail mode the display disappears and I have to restart the unit each time.

Firmware is 1.6

Setup

200GB Seagate drive (ST9200420AS) formatted with Mede8er
3 folders (Movies, Photo, TV)

Problem

While navigating in Thumbnail mode

Open Media Library
Devices > HDD shows up OK ... Enter
HDD > C: shows up OK ... Enter ... the three folders (Movies, TV and Photo) show up to a second then boom, the display goes dead (it sounds as though the HDD shuts down for a second and restarts) Only way to recover is restart the unit.

While navigating in List mode

Open Media Library
Devices > HDD shows up OK ... Enter
HDD > C: shows up OK ... Enter
Movies, Photo, TV folders show up and display does not disappear
Can go into Movies and access media OK
Also at this point I can change the Movie folder back to Thumbnail view and browse them by cover.

I can also get from showing the C drive to opening it in Preview mode.

So basically Thumbnail mode is causing the unit to bomb out when opening the C drive.

Second  issue

I loaded 76 pictures in the Photo folder and everytime I try and load them the display also disappears and I have to restart the unit.

EDIT: Possibly found the cause

I tried loading the exact same files with my external USB HDD and the unit crashes while opening the drive at the same spot in Thumbnail mode.

However ... after deleting the "Photo" folder the unit no longer crashes!

So now the question is why is the Photo folder causing the unit to crash?

Like I said it has 76 pictures with a resolution of 720x480 each and the files are named Wedding Pictures (1) - Wedding Pictures (76)

Will try renaming the files (no spaces) later and retest, but I've washed enough of my Sunday for now  Roll Eyes

Confirmed the unit crashes every time I try and view my photos (even from a USB flash drive).

At least it has made a decision between the MED500x2 and WDTV Live Hub a lot easier though.

Cole

Have just tested a MED250X with V2.0.6 and a USB drive with images 450 +- the same size as yours and I do not get any crashes. What is the source of these images ie Digital Camera or download from Internet?
