XML editing to jump to Folder

Hi there!

Firstly, I'm pretty new to posting on forums so please excuse me if this is in the incorrect topic.

I've used Thumbgen to create all my metadata, and XML's.  I am very happy with the way my movies came out, but the folder structure recommended for TV Series didn't suit me at all.  My current folder structure for TV Series is:
\Series\Entourage\Season 1\Episode 1.avi
\Series\Entourage\Season 1\Episode 2.avi
\Series\Entourage\Season 1\Episode 3.avi
etc...

\Series\Entourage\Season 2\Episode 1.avi
\Series\Entourage\Season 2\Episode 2.avi
\Series\Entourage\Season 2\Episode 3.avi
etc...

And so you get the picture...

Now, my question is:  Is there any way I can edit the XML so that when I click on "ENTOURAGE" in jukebox view, it will jump to the "\Series\Entourage\" folder?

I just think that this option would be much cleaner than having a seperate XML for every episode.

In your situation my advise would be:
- use a separate series top folder - so don't mix series with movies under the same top folder
- then link the top folder of series to favorites
- don't use the xml scan on that folder, just leave the normal nested folder browsing in place by doing that

I have read that topic and used it to set up the initial generation of my XML files.  But I do not like the folder structure that it advises for series (each episode in separate folder) as I do not wish to view each and every episodes synopsis but rather just an overview of the series itself.  So, I moved the XML and JPEG's to the top folder of the Series name (eg. \Series\Entourage\entourage.xml ), but the XML points to an episode AVI which doesn't exist in the top folder.

What you advised, I am doing already (separate series top folder, and linked the separate series folder to favourites).  However, when clicking on the particular series, it obviously doesn't work as the XML file points to an AVI that doesn't exist in the top folder of the series name, but rather in the Season folder of that Series.

I'm sure there must be some way to make the XML jump to the Series Folder, rather than looking to play the AVI?

I don't think there is at the moment. XML is pointing to a file and not to a folder to serve the normal movie view and start with enter.

Sounds like you're highlighting the series thumbnail, and the plot info displayed is just being drawn from the XML which was scraped for one of the episodes. This is actaully a good sign - here's what I suggest:

Set up your folders as Maasbommel suggested in this thread. The Entourage folder should contain your season folders, optional folder.jpg and one Entourage.xml file. You can make this from a copy of any episode-scraped xml for convenience. Then edit this file so that the series summary is entered in between the <plot> tags. You might want to delete unused tags, such as filename, etc

When browsing in Movie view, highlighting the Entourage folder should now show the series summary in the lower third of the screen.

Just to reiterate: this works with normal browsing only; once you try jukebox view on this folder, that XML may show as a confusing rogue 'extra' episode...
