Mede8er device: MED500X2
- Installed HDD: 2 TB Western digital WD20EARS (5400 rpm).
- Firmware upgraded from v1.0.3 to 2.0.3
Tests from 2 PC’s:
- Sony laptop VPCF1-3ME1 (USB3.0 port / 1000 Mbit LAN) Windows 7 64 bit
- PC with Asus P5K PRO motherboard;USB 2.0 ports;1000 Mbit LAN ; windows 7 home premium 32bit
Switch: 1000 Mbit Zyxel GS108B.
1) USB
When I copy 4 GB from my laptop with the blue USB3 cable, the transfer starts around 70 MByte/sec. Then the transfer speed gradually slows down. After a few minutes the average transfer speed is below 10 MB/sec, and at the end the speed is below 2 MB/sec.
I bought another USB 3.0 cable. Same problem.
What could be the problem?
Remark: the transfer starts around 70 MB/sec after a fresh restart of the MED500X2. When I cancel the transfer after a few minutes (when transfer slows down), and when I start a second copy without restarting the mede8er, the file transfer starts below 1MB/sec.
2) Network
File transfer over LAN from my PC to MED500X2 is a more constant, and higher than over USB, but still too slow (starts at 3,3 MB/sec; ends at 2,5 MB/sec; this should be 8 MB/sec according to your website)
The transfer speed between 2 PC’s over the same cables (I replace the mede8er with a laptop) is > 20 MB/sec so there isn’t a network problem or PC problem.
I did these test with 2 PC’s. Same problem on both PC’s.
