Hi Maasbommel !

I'm also a new happy owner of the mede8er and I have exactly the same problem as "gazzpacho" quoting:

Hi Maasbommel

The Mede8er is connected to the tv with HDMI and to the receiver with an optical connection. When I want to enjoy the receiver's audio I must use SPDIF Passthrough (but then there's no audio coming from the tv). When I want to use the tv speaker output I have to switch back to HDMI PAssthrough.

Which is rather awkward to me, as I have another device (a SAT tob box) linked by SPDIF to the only input in my Home theather. I use kind of optical splitter linking two optics into one which works only when of one device (mede8er or SAT) is shut down.

But the interesting thing is that when I got the mede8er there was firware V1.2.2A on it and both SPDIF and HDMI audios worked at the same time in the 2ch mode regardless of the audio setting. Now I upgraded to V2.0.2. I got the situation as everybody else.

So - any suggestions or will you consider in some future ugrades?
best regards from Ljubljana, Slovenia

That's new for me that both outputs were working on 1.2.2a. Are you sure?

If yes, I suggest you to make a post in the bug section to raise they attention of Mede8er.

Hi Maasbommel!

I'm positive about SPDIF + HDMI audio working at the same time before upgrading to V2.0.2! But as it's working now is according to specifications so I cannot say that this is a bug, merely I can suggest an enhecement. How do I submit that?

Best regards!

Ok, then make a post in the feature request section, you can find it easily on the Mede8er Forum homepage:

@Maasbommel

Hi, maybe just a stupid question.
Quote
o HDMI Passthrough:  Use this setting when your Mede8er is connected with a HDMI cable to your TV and your Home Cinema set or audio amp is connected through HDMI to your TV. Your audio set will switch to the right audio mode

If you have a home theatre receiver with HDMI inputs, shouldn't  the Mede8er be connected to the HT receiver with HDMI and from the HT receiver to the TV with HDMI?  How does DTS/ DD5.1 passthrough work, if the Mede8er is connected directly to the TV  and the TV to the HT receiver?

My setup is: Mede8er via HDMI ---> Yamaha RX-V 1065 HT receiver via HDMI --> Samsung LCD TV.
I'm running FW v2.0.1. I have yet to upgrade to 2.0.2.
I'm asking because, no matter if I select HMDI downmix / HDMI passthrough on the mede8er for all my 1080pDTS mkv's,
my HT receiver shows PCM as the audio decoder on the receiver. I would have expected the audio decoder to show DTS/DD with passthrough rather than PCM.  Maybe I'm missing something or the Mede8er is decoding the audio regardless of what I'm telling it to do???

Best regards.

so what is the answer to the question?

I have the same problem. Which audio option do i choose to get 5.1ch sound?  I have my mede8er hdmi connected to my amp and hdmi amp to tv.

Does mede8er only support 2channels?

If you connect the mede8er by HDMI to your receiver, you should put it to HDMI passthrough.
Then look at your AMP setup for the right audio decoding settings, that is managed then by your AMP setup and not by mede8er.

Impossible to give you answers here, that is something specific to the used AMP, just check your AMP manual.

When using the analog output connections on the mede8er to your audio amp, output will be always there.

Did I read this line correctly??

Are the Component and Analogue channels "always on"??

I do not use the sound via television, but the analog output (front) to standard amplifier. Since the update of the driver from Januari I have problems with the audio. Is makes screacking sound all the time. One second it's low and good, the next phase it's making teriible sound.

Any idea's? Tips?

Will there be an update soon?
