I just reeived my 450X2 this past week and have been enjoying the new features and getting used to some of the changes from my old 500X unit.  Three items in particular I'd like to get some feedback on:

1. Subtitles.  I wasn't able to access subtitles until I located the "Subtitles ON" menu option.  Once turned on, it is starting every movie with subtitles on - I have to manually tuen them off every time I begin a movie.  Was the option intended to work like that?  It's a bit of a pain...

2. Boot interval.  With my 500X unit, by the time my TV had powered on and switched to the correct HDMI port - the Mede8er was up and running (or just a couple seconds behind).  The 450X2 is taking 2-3 times as long to boot and present the first menu screen - are others seeing the same thing?

3. Option to stop movies from auto-previewing.  The 500X had an option to turn off the preview function (movie begins to play in small window if you cursor onto it and sit there) - can ths be turned off on the 450X2?  I can't seem to find an option that turns it off.

Last question - many of the menu options aren't covered in the version of the user manual I downloaded.  Is there a more comprehensive manual that I can get my hands on?

Thanks,
Keith

1) regratably normal behaviour with all recent realtek sdk's

2) An X2 has a huge amount of code to load from flash into ram. So it takes longer.

3) Turn on Autoview...and then use View to change view to what you want for each folder.

What manual are you pointing to, which version?

Latest version is avalaible here:
http://www.mede8er.com/mede8er_support.html and based on the new V2 features.

Okay, looks like I must have had an older version of the manual (thanks).

Too bad about the subtitle situation.  That is a real PITA.

Regarding #3 - I'm not understanding the post that refers to Auto View.  I understand that I could browse to a specific movie folder and change the view to "List" for a specific movie (and then the video window wouldn't appear) - but unless I did that globally for the parent folder (losing the preview pane when browsing titles) that would only leave me with the option of going in to each of the 1400+ movie folders and changing every one of them to List view.  There used to be an option to turn off preview play for the movies - there is no ability to do that on the X2 units?

Thanks.

The aim with the x2 is for users to avoid having to go into folders using jukebox.

I don't see how you expect list view to appear automatically....with , or withot preview?

You can add view.xml manually if you want. Use slave mode and copy view.xml  from a list folder to your pc. Then write a simple batch  file to copy it to whatever folder/subfolder you want. OK...it may overwrite icon view at the top level..but that's  just one view that then needs changing back.

This should be able to do it:-

I'm not expecting anything to happen automatically.  My point was that there used to be a very simple way to keep the movies from playing when you happened to stop browsing on one of them (or stopped a movie and it kicks back to the movie folder).  If there's no easy way to do it on the X2 models - that's fine.  I'll just have to adjust my new movie process to include adding in a "view" file when I add a new folder to my collection.  There are a number of things that differ (both positively and negatievly) between my 500X and the X2 units.  I'm just trying to understand them, and find ways to asjust.

Thank you,
Keith
