Can you post some information on the media you are playing? Perhaps using mediainfo... http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/enThanks, Mark.

Olivier,
Please also post: - what brand/type receiver you are using - what firmware version you have installed on your Mede8er (please mention version number and not say latest) - how things are connected (eg mede8er by HDMI to TV, and by SPDIF to amp) - what setting you use under mede8er video setup and audio setup

Gentscar,
If you upgraded to 2.0.1 version, did you had the same problem with a previous firmware version?

I have a similar problem with my Receiver Denon AVC A1SR, connected with optical cable for sound and HDMI to my projector, but unable to have a 5.1 sound, only stereo ... On my receiver i'm on Pure direct mode .
Is it possible to try using analog video with no hdmi connected...after a full power down? Modern systems use what is called cea-edid,,informationsupplied over HDMI which tells a source what audio is supported. Now there should be a fix for analog system which get no edid in V2 GUI, that should work. This is a test...not a solution. Projectors may not support cea-edid, but the fact HDMI is being used might mean we have found a new issue..HDMI systems which produce null cea-edid.

I just merged you topics again to one, that will keep things a bit more clear....
Please look at the suggestion of Jer1956 and suggest to give that a try.
And also: If you upgraded to 2.0.1 version, did you had the same problem with a previous firmware version?

Olivier
I think Pure Direct is for 2-channel listening only.

Quote from Denon: "Stereo with an analogue input, stays analogue as it passes through an analogue High-Pass Filter (if the speakers are configured to small) while a seperate but parallel signal goes to the DSP for Low-Pass filtering. In DIRECT Mode the Hi-Pass Filter is bypassed, while the digital Low-Pass is still active. In PURE DIRECT Mode, both the analogue High-Pass and digital Low-Pass are bypassed, however an analogue Low-Pass takes over, so in PURE DIRECT it is 100% analogue"
So Pure Direct avoids the digital pre-amp when using high quality analog stereo inputs.
