ok. Now I am also a user of the mede8er 500x2. I havenīt used it until V 2.0.
Now I am using it with an external HDD. Now my problem:
When chosing a movie via USB, everything is fine with the subtitles. I can chose if I want it, or not. By default it is OFF.
But when I do a shifting to FAVOURITES and chose a movie from there (which is way better, because less pressing on the remote) the subtitle is ON by default and cannot be turned OFF.
Anything I can do with that issue?
2nd problem:
is it possible (and if itīs possible HOW?) to set the AUDIO language to a specific language by default? Every movie I chose is in english mode. I have again to switch through the menue to chose my language (German).
Any help with this? Thank you very much.

The second one would be a problem as there is no standard for ordering languages. So subtile 2 could be german, or french, or...

Can you please post what kind of media you are playing that gives subs auto on? MKV, DVD.iso, avi, BDMV, etc And what kind of subs are used? external .srt, external .sub , internal TXT, internal PGS

I only use two different media types for the movies: mkv and m2ts. the m2ts are in a BDMV folder sometimes. At the moment all is stored on an external HDD via USB.
The strange thing is, when chosing my content via USB everything is fine and I can switch between subtitles. But after adding to favourites I do not have the option to chose. OK, the option is shown i the menue and I can see the different sub languages, but after chosing one (or OFF) nothing happens.
@jer1956. I donīt mean the standard for subtitles (although I would prefer OFF as standard), but the language. It would be good to have an option in the setting menue to chose which language should be ON with default setting. All my other media players (i.e. patriot box office) played the files with the first language which is german.

What type of subs are you using with those movies? Is it mkv with .srt external subs, external .sub, or only internal subs?

My point was that you wouldn't be able to select the Language, only a fixed numeric position in the Language list. If you only play media sourced in your home country...then that may well always be German in your case. But if you source media from all over the place, the first language in the subtitle list will vary.

I donīt know here I can find the information about the sub format. can you please help me with this? I am a Mac user and on my MAc I am using VLC Player to play the files. In VLC I cannot find an information about the subs. And when trying to get information directly from the file it only states the GB

OK. I got a program for specifications.
I would say nearly 90% of subtitles are PGS. Some are UFT-8. I have not checked all my movies as the library is nearly 4TB of content. And I think itīs internal sub, as I have to check the single mkv or m2ts file and not the folder.

This is still under investigation. I just tried a sample mkv with both utf8 and PGS sub in it. First tried to play it with media library, no issues to switch between subs or turn it off (in setup subs is set to on). Then linked te folder of the sample to favorites, when into it - still no issue to toggle subs or turn it off. Then linked the movie directly to favorites, so not the folder but the movie direct - still no issue to toggle subs or turn it off. I have put the sample on ftp named Avatar SRT-PGS subs sample.mkv (see http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,279.0.html howto connect to mede8er ftp for the sample). So at the moment I am not able to reproduce your issue.

maybe there is an email adress for technical issues. I could record me when trying to change it. It would not make any sense to send a file to you, as this happens with every file. So everything is good when chosing usb hdd directly for playing movies. But I still cannot turn subs OFF in favourites. I can change them to another language, but cannot turn them off. I also tried the Setup subs with ON and OFF.

It happens with every file "on your installation". Maasbommel "is offering" to test if it can be replicated using one of your files, on his X2. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the idea. Try playing one of these files using a USB stick. Your configuration gives us few options for comparative elimination. If you had an internal disk we could see what happens with a Favorites linked to that.
