This tip describes howto setup Thumbgen to generate about.jpg folder.jpg and .xml files to use in combination with the JukeBox view.
First download Thumbgen.
Use Thumbgen version 18.104.22.168 to generates compatible .xml files and compatible folder.jpg and about.jpg files for use with the JukeBox View.
You can download Thumbgen here:http://thumbgen.org/
First organise your Movie and Series collection. For movies:
1] Make a folder in the root of your internal disk, usb disk, PC or NAS share, name it Video (or any name you like).
2] Under this Video folder, there are 2 ways to organise further:
a] make Genre subfolders, like Thriller, Action, etc. In this subfolder, make a subfolder for each separate movie.
b] or if you don't want to organise in Genres, just make a subfolder for each separate movie under the Movie root folder. For series:
1] Make a folder in the root of your internal disk, usb disk, PC or NAS share, name it Series (or any name you like).
2] Organise as follow below this root folder Series: [Series folder] \ [Season folder] \ [Episode folder] \ episode file
3] When using Scan on Series folder you will get a full flat Series Jukebox. If you want nested view, don't use XML Scan, but only map the Series folder to your Favorites screen.
To get an idea about the folder structure, download this sample: Series.rar
and map the Series root folder to your Favorites.Setting up Thumbgen for use with JukeBox View
First select the desired plot language and sources for covers and backdrops.
The example below is for Dutch plots.
Then press on the Option button to get into Setup of Thumbgen.
Set the desired Language. Below example is for Dutch.
Also check the radio buttons and set them as in the picture below.
Set the desired Movie Sheet sub and audio stream language.
Set the structure for series.
Set the radio button for proper IMDB rating.
Set the proper file extension for generating .XML movie info.
Now press the plus icon next to the Current profile window and save the profile as Mede8erX2.
Then select the process files/folders button to start generating the scraping process and collecting the movie and or series info. You need of course a working Internet connection.
For your convenience I have added my Thumben profile files, put them in the proper Thumbgen subfolders.
Profiles need to be unrarred in the profile folder. MovieResults need to be unrarred in the Layouts\MovieResults subfolder.MovieResults profiles.rarProfiles.rar
Also you need to install the Glyn Thumbgen sheets in the Thumbgen Templates subfolder(see the bottom of this post where to download those)
Be aware: my profiles are setup for Dutch plots, so if you want English or other languague, set this under options and then resave the profiles.
Select the desired folder(s) to start the scraping process. Now choose one of the desired modes (manual / semi automatic /...).
If you have set proper folder names, Thumgen will have a good hit on the right scraping info.
If you messed up with proper folder naming, you will get a mess and wrong scraping info.
When the scraping process is finished, every movie folder will have a folder.jpg / about.jpg and moviename.xml file.
Now follow this described process to set JukeBox mode on your Mede8er X2 and link your Video folder and Series folder to the Favorites menu: Howto setup V2 GUI Jukebox with XML search
Now you are finished setting up and play:Movies:
You now can start movies by enter on a cover, that will show the moviesheet. Pressing again will start the movie. Using arrow keys you can also browse through the moviesheets and enter when you have found the desired movieSeries;
When using Jukebox view: you can enter on a series cover to see the moviesheet. Browse with arrow keys and start the desired one with enter.
When using nested view (Jukebox view disabled in setup or you did not scan on XML) -> Enter the Series Cover -> enter the episode cover. Now goto desired series cover and press on the about button, you will see the series sheet. You can browse the series sheets within the episode with the arrow keys and enter on a sheet will start the desired serie.
Use the Glyn Thumgen sheets and you get real nice results:http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,4625.0.html
