To connect to your PC or your NAS shares, use the Network Shortcut Method.
This is the preferred method as this also works if you have not setup in your network NAS or PC with the workgroupname WORKGROUP.

Howto setup a network shortcut to a share:
1] Goto Media Library
2] Select Network
3] Select Shortcut
4] In shortcut press the Menu button on the remote
5] Fill in loginname and password as stated below

PASSWORD PROTECT NETWORK SHARES -- NAS SETUP
Use the My_Shortcuts method as shown in this demo http://www.mede8er.com/Mede8er_X2_Add_Shortcut.html

If you are using public shares (set your shares fully open):

PUBLIC SHARES -- PC / NAS
Username:  Guest
Password: Guest
IP:  xxx.xxx.xx.xx (replace the xxx with the real ip number of your PC or NAS device)

Please take in mind that you have setup your NAS or PC with a fixed IP, otherwise when using DHCP it might get another IP after reboot and your shortcut will not work anymore because the IP number changed.

Please also look at this post if you have trouble setting up your PC shares:
