I'm also looking one or two times per month here into this forum to verify if there are any news regarding a new software version. But I'm always little bit disappointed, because the latest update on the software release subforum is still from March 2011.
So are there any plans for a new software release in the near future and especially a list of planned new features (roadmap)?
Thank you!

Ciao Stefan :)

I'm afraid you are not kidding. Is the firmware of the new models not compatible with the old platforms?
That would be really disappointing for most of the users here and I won't believe that this is the future of the Mede8er.

Yes they have different specs., but that may not mean that must run different OS.
Let's compare it with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, all are really different devices, but all are running the same iOS version even older hardware versions. That's the way I would expect from a good OS.
I can't believe that it would be that complicated or impossible to have ONE firmware/OS for all different Mede8er platforms.
Is there any official announcement that support or at least firmware deployment is stopped for the "old" platforms?
Thank you!

You can wait till the cows come home. The 500X is obsolete as far as Mede8ter is concerned. You're kindly asked to move up to the machine of the day or you're out of luck. This shows that Mede8ter are not your best friends, but a commercial company. I am not surprised.

A couple of months ago I bought the 400mini, but I regret it already.
I was choosing between acryan and mede8er, and chose mede8er because of the good support.

So far I have two issue which do not seem to be solved:
- can't access my nas through NFS (on other hardware I can)
- lipsync issues
- DTS issues (screen freezes occasionally)

It looks that Mede8er only puts effort in your new shiny machines, and not in machines they sold a couple of months ago.

I agree
as soon as they brought out the new one they just stopped with the old ones
The least they could have done was to fix THEIR bugs or to provide the source code and let us fix it for ourselves.

MED500 was good if you could look past all the bugs.

But definetely my last SANJI product

Uhm guys I know you all have a point, but if the problems are caused from the SDK of Realtek there won't be any solution in the near future as RT only concentrtes on the new chips. They only make profit from selling new chips. And before you misunderstand me, I would also love a new firmware to adress a problem which occured in the subtitles (which I seem to have as a minority, although I can help myself if I go back to firmware 3x).

The release notes of v4 (dated January 26, 2011) publish a list of known issues. Some of them related to (or blamed on) Realtek who apparently should provide a new SDK to fix them. It was said that Mede8er did not want to wait any longer to release version 4 and would take the bugs for granted until this SDK was released.

Also I am currently using the MOD version of the software because with the original the NAS functionality does not work. The performance is dramatic but at least it works.

It is now almost 9 months later. When can we finally expect this promised version?

Hi Gringo,

On the release notes of 4.0.4 there is nothing mentioned about NAS funtionality not working:
http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,4793.0.html

I donīt know what kind of NAS issues you have with the 4.0.4 firmware, but as far as I am aware of there are no issues with NAS connectivity on 4.0.4. As this is your first post here, I could not find any details about issues you have on this functionality.

Regarding upgrades on 500X firmware:
Situation is still the same - no 1073 SDK updates from Realtek means no way for Mede8er to work on the remains of the 4.0.4 list.

Maasbommel

Hi Maasbommel,
the situation with the Realtek SDK is clear, but bugixes are not the only reason for a new software version.
There were lots of great features promised for the future of the Mede8er, and some of them are already available on the new hardware platform. Why can't you provide an update with all these great features, but with the same "core" as currently available in version 4.0.4?
Yes the bugfixes would still be there, but most of the users out there could benefit of the new features as well and also not all users are having problems with the latest "old" version.
I think we all would really appreciate if you could proceed with further feature releases for the old platforms.
Many thanks.
