Hi there to all...

Since 2 weeks a proud owner of the 500x2. After using the former 500x wich now has moved to the study I am experimenting with the x2. Installed v1.02 immediatly after setup, everything works perfectly. Nice interface and quicker remote response.

I yet have a remark. The music/foto/video searchoptions in the main menu strip are restricted to directly attached media. I hope this changes to network capability in some upcomming firmware. I have installed a internal HDD, but this is just for downloading torrentfiles. Once completed those downloads wil move to my NAS.

I can imagine that there are quite a lot of users who stream media over network and do not use the x2 as a NAS server. So the 3 search options in the main menu strip cannot be used by these users.

Then there are the (I think) 3 display modes to present Video- Audio- and Picture files in favorites view. As user you have to switch to te correct view manually. Would it be an option for future development to let the sdk do the filtering ?
Like sort on file-extensions such as mkv-iso-avi etc and present these files in videomode automaticly. This can ofcourse also be done by filtering on mp3 - aac - fla - wav etc for audiobrowsing - whereas jpg - png - bmp for pictures.
Maybe such functionality can be implemented in future firmware realeases....;-)

Question: Has the x2 have to stay switched on during a torrent download?

.... Please do not think I am complaining about the new x2. I think it's a good en well engineered media player. The GUI is still the best arround. The addition of.xml metafiles looks promissing.

The issue of "off" is would "off" be really using less power if the hard drive has to powered up to handle the trickle of data coming across?

When you power up a Med it always starts with the Boot logo, indicating there is no loaded code running when in Standby. I don't know what  the full power down mode really does, other than turn off the Red Led and disable reading the remote.

As for view, and Automation. This is often  debated in the beta group. The problem is some see things as fixed, i.e. in this mode it should be using that. Others (like me) see it as a question of user choice, some users may prefer this view to that, on a folder by folder basis! This is especially true of List and Preview mode. So the best solution is Automated Choice! Let users decide how they want things once, and then let it happen automatically after that.

Hi jer1956,

Thanx for your quick response but I do not fully understand your answer regarding te "on" of  "off" mode while downloading a torrent file. Maybe I did not put my question clear enough. By "off" I mean the x2 is set to standby (green led). Is it still downloading the torrent file then ? Or has te power led has to be blue (on) ?

As I said, Off is a PC type  "off". It has to do a complete reboot when you power up, but the switch's are still active which instigate it. It's isn't a "sleep" type Off, as used by Sat box's or bluray players.
