[ TIPS ] How to upgrade YAMJ and Y2M if there's a new version available.

IMDb keeps changing their site, that's why YAMJ has always update theirs.
This tips is to maintain YAMJ and Y2M into latest stable build available.

This folder structure is relative to yours, but I prefer this way to make it easier to update YAMJ.

Folder List :
C:\YAMJ  --> YAMJ root, contain YAMJ
C:\YAMJ\Mediainfo --> Mediainfo CLI
C:\YAMJ\Y2M --> YAMJ to Mede8er -- Run YAMJ_To_Mede8er.exe (or create shortcut to this to desktop)

Just remember for minimal requirement (YAMJ, Mediainfo CLI, and Y2M).

[ UPGRADING YAMJ ]
To avoid any error after upgrading YAMJ, better use different folder to current YAMJ,
[1]. Extract YAMJ to new folder - eg. C:\YAMJ_New
[2]. Extract Mediainfo CLI to C:\YAMJ_New\mediaInfo
[3]. Extract Y2M into C:\YAMJ_New\Y2M
[4]. If you have custom skin in your previous YAMJ/Y2M, just copy skin folder (skins is located at C:\YAMJ\Skins)
[5]. Try it by double click on YAMJ_To_Mede8er.exe inside C:\YAMJ_New\Y2M (set your YAMJ settings first)
[7]. If there's no error, delete your OLD YAMJ, rename YAMJ folder to C:\YAMJ
[8]. Create Y2M shorcut to your desktop - then you're ready to go.

[ UPGRADING Y2M ]
Whenever there's new update for Y2M, just extract to C:\YAMJ\Y2M it won't affect YAMJ, afterall Y2M is a tool to use YAMJ more lot easier (to Mede8er especially).

NOTE:
If running Y2M after updating failed, delete registry entry @ HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\YamjToMede8er
then restart Y2M.

UPDATE:
Since the latest stable YAMJ got problem with IMDb, and latest YAMJ build got problem with Y2MB7, you may use this YAMJ version as workaround, http://hotfile.com/dl/126433903/f57fa74/YAMJ_r2346.rar.html

I think this YAMJ version (r2346) have also problem with IMDB. To be precise, all new scanned movies showing up without plot  and genre in about.jpg (see attachment). I hope Peter will sort the issue with latest YAMJ and Y2M.

I have the same problem, but only after copying the "default" skin from the previous version to the "skins" folder of r2346. When using the proper "default" skin for r2346 then the plot summary is included. So it appears that some tweaking for the "default" skin is needed (as shown in the pics above).

Any ideas would be welcome. I have tried playing around with some settings, but to no avail.

Last night I put few movies in one folder, so the Y2M can scan them from scratch. The movies were :

The Adjustment Bureau
Bad Teacher
Friends with Benefits

and only first (The Adjustment Bureau) got the full about.jpg. Remaining two have the about.jpg like in my previous post.
Maybe is something with skin like BadRobot said, but is strange that some movies get full information, a some just partial.

I guess there's something wrong with XML plot handle with default skin.
In the attachment is some movies you've reported has plot error, but I'm just using dummy files to check plot availability.

I am getting lost trying to have a working set of these programs altogether. In particular you may get a default , a default_old and a default_yamj skin ... and the default skin is not the same depending on the version of the yamj pack. Why not repack evrything into a working stable set?
Another alternative is to upgrade y2m so that it supports the current version of yamj (thereby offering greater support from the official yamj site). This seems depending on Peter Butler who does not seems to be online.
I would be glad to have an official Sanji statement on that.

Finally I have found the cause of the problem with partial movie information from IMDB... The reason was the option imdb.site=labs that I have used to get movie names in English and not in local language. After deleting this line (or setting to imdb.site=us) everything is OK again.

Thanks a lot! I did copy a skin folder (default) into YAMJ but this mixed various components of different origin, Isuppose, with the result that I had no more background and a diiferent style.
I reverted back and will wait for an official version.

I do wish the Mede8er guys would do a "proper" release of YAMJ though, there's a lot of folder/file replication the way it is at the moment.

Pending an official stable release, I have switched to YADIS, less complete than Y2M but so much straightforward. Absolutely no trouble to setup and use.

What is the exact status of Y2M? Is is product supported by Med8er? If not what is the recommended product? Because it cannot advertise for functionalities that it cannot make available to its customers.

Y2M is a community project by Peter Buttler. It is free. The package that can be found on the forum (with the YamJ version included) still works.
We know that Peter is working on a new release, but it is as earlier said a community project.....
So that means, he works on it when he has some spare time available.....

Same goes for Yadis, Thumbgen etc.. You are free to choose whatever you like to generate movie covers.
Even free to make your own by hand if you like.
