Hello, well i am pleased with the new update and am happy the about.jpg's are looking beautiful again. not really anything to complain about that i have seen so far only 2 things that bug more than anything. on my med400 when you go to network and turn on nas it goes to the on position but when you go back to main menu it says off  and it has always done this and is very annoying where as my med500 says on at main screen and then other thing i have noticed that hapens on both my mede8ers is that when you punch in the network numbers 194.167.00.00 etc and push ok it doesnt stay like that when you go back into it as i seems to go back to what i believe is a default code because it always says it. otherwisebrilliant work guys and most pleased. as for debtrermental problems i have nothing to say lol

Don't you mean 194.167.0.000 instead of 194.167.00.00

I cannot follow this discussion exactly but can say that an ip number ending on 0 is not normal, so e.g 192.168.0.0 or 192.168.1.0 should not be used. 192.168.0.1 and up is normal.

Ip numbers ending with zeros are used for masking and should never be used as far I know.

Indeed Maasbommel.
Ending 0 on IP number mostly use for Network Address, device address shouldn't use 0 number.

Don't you have a dhcp device (router) to set the ipaddress automatically?

Adresses ending on /0.0 are not allowed (welll.... there are some exceptions, depending on the subnet... programs should never assume a address cannot end in .0   ..... ask the emule protocol designers...  Shocked )

its complicated. i have my mede8er's connected via cable so when i go into network on the right box you have On*: 000.000.0.0 etc there so i just tap that into the manually inputed wired lan setup and my network works but when i go back in DHCP auto it is back at 127.0.0.1. yes my network still works but for some reason it doesnt show the numer i taped in and it would be nice if it stored the number i taped in. anybody else have the same prob with there med400 where it doesnt show nas on in main menu but when you enter to turn it or off it stores what you click on.

Why are going back to DHCP Auto  after setting a Manual IP? It will get overwritten.

A little late, but perhaps someone read this afterall.

In my opinion the NAS ON function won't work on a MED400X, because it has no internal storage device (HDD)

At least that's what i was thinking.

Many people aren't using an external USB drive but are getting their media over the network. So getting a working network isn't all about using the Nas function.

In my opinion it is not possible to use a NAS on a device without (internal) storage.

edit : (mabey not very clear)
above sentence must be read as : (like i think it was intented by the poster)
In my opinion it is not possible to use the NAS Function ON with a device without (internal) storage.

NAS (Network-attached storage) is file-level computer data storage connected to a computer network providing data access to heterogeneous clients.

Any external usb storage device might be accesible over the network,
but seems useless to me in terms of access/tranfer speed.

No, the point is these users want to store their media on a NAS, and stream it "too" the Med. The Med has to have a working network interface for streaming media "in", from external NAS, Internet Radio etc. It isn't just about streaming media "out" .

The NAS ON function is only needed if you want to stream something out.

let me explane.:

I have a network hdd (NAS 2 x 2TB), i  am streaming to the med500x (and Med400x)
without the nas function on (on either of them)

If i want to share/stream things from my internal med500x Harddisk to let's say the Med400x without
setting the NAS function on in the med500x, it won't stream (and comes with te message NOT AVAILABLE).

If i want to share things from my med500x with hdd to the med400x the NAS function must be ON,
but the NAS function only must be ON in the med500x.
