EDIT: 17Dec2011 IMPORTANT :The WD30EZRX Requires 2 x formats. Do not use any jumpers. If you navigate to the Hard Drive in the Media Library and open the HDD Icon then the Drive should be shown as HDD: We dont know about other brands and models of SATA3 at this point but it may well be the same as the above. Our tests show that with the 2 x formats this drive without any jumpers and with Firmware Version V2.0.2 works to specification.

(Tested with WD30EZRS) To use WD SATA3 HDD add jumper to Pin5-6 Mede8er1

I did put the jumper on 5-6 and still doesn't work for me.
I have a WD disk of 3To Caviar Green (WD30EZRX).
I have no solution from the mede8er support. They told me to use another disk.
Please help

Hi besim,
Have you tried to place this jumper and then do a reformat of the drive?

Yes I did it yesterday.... And the result is exactly the same.
I also noticed the X2 takes a lot of time to boot (not sure but between 3 and 5 minutes before it boot). This is normal since it has problem to mount the disk I guess.

Could also be just a bad disk.... Have you tested it in a PC to see if it is working normally?

I bought the same drive (WD30EZRX). It didn't work the first time I format it, but I decided to change the jumper pin (I have some blue ones and some black ones) and format it again. the HDD drive was visible when I searched media file. I connected the blue usb cable to the main usb port on the Mother Board and it worked!
file space is 2.72. yay!

It suggests that the jumpers are for the WD30EZRX, because it is written on top of the picture (6.0 Gb). When you add the jumper to this disk, it will go down from 6.0 Gb speed to 3.0 only.
On the other hand, the WD30EZRS will go down from 3.0 Gb to 1.5.
So, the jumper setting is only usefull for the WD30EZRS. For now, the WD30EZRX will not work at all in the 500X2 !!!
I hope Mede8er will release the right firmware soon, so the X2 Sata controller can handle the Sata-3 speed without problems in the future. Than we can mount the WD30EZRX too (with a jumper).
(The 500X2 now can only handle 1.5 Gb speed)

Guys,
do you still see the issues with the latest firmware version on your disk with the jumper on it?

Answering questions at the Mede8er forum seems to be difficult last months...
I am using a WD30EZRS without jumper now. So, SATA II, or 3 Gb/s if you prefer.
Maybe someone else can aswer my question: my new disk is formatted in a very funny way bij the 500X2.
15,98MB unallocated - 2,724TB formatted - 15MB unallocated - 118MB Local, unformatted - 16MB unallocated.
Is this normal???

What did you use to find that information?
Yes...answering problems has got more diffiuclt...becuase we try to make sure as much information as possible is readily available in Guide and Tips. So it's those problems for which we have no ready answer that get asked directly most, and they are the ones which often still have no answer. If you post one of those...you can feel as if you are being ignored.

This looks normal. the 118mb is probably the linux swap partition.

Jer and Maasbommel;
I used Acronis Disk Director 11, which normally shows linux swap partitions too. In this case it says unallocated and unformated, so I do not understand.
With the MED500 (V4.04) it was rather clear that there were 3 linux partitions, with the 500X2 it is not. By the way, till now it´s only an empty disk, brand new and only formatted by the 500X2 with V2.02. Don´t want to loose 48 hours copying before I´m sure it is allright...
And I´m not complaining about you 2 guys. I just noticed there are more forum users complaining and questioning than answering, than we had before.
