If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It!!!!

I read the specs of the new player:
http://www.mede8er.com/mede8er_products_med500x2.html
and I didn't find anything about NFS support? Will the new player have the NFS client built in, like the "old" one?

Cheers

I wish that the remote control had a wireless keyboard built in similar to the Boxee. I'll wait for more substantial review in English before I part with me cash  Tongue

Have you seen the differnce in memory specs between the 1073 and 1185?  Sanji need to build a version with lower memory requirements for the 500x. That could mean IPTV functions would have to be removed to achieve it. The installer will detect the different hardware and protect you from bricking your 500x. Don't try to disprove that last statement by trying! Shocked

It will not work because of other CPU and less internal flash memory.

i understand that new features are not possible on the old mede8er (like google etc ) but there was promised us that we also get cover search like the videowall for the music part  ... cd covers .. is that now blown away and is the support over for the old med500x ?

i just wonder ..

I hope not. The new GUI uses Casablanca which I believe has already been used on the 300. So I would expect they migrate all devices over to Casablanca in time. But they are small company and it's a bit like plate spinning on poles. Currently they they are adding a new plate, the X2. They should be able to port over the Casablanca GUI elements to the other players before they fall off their poles. It's the new functions which increase the build size which might not be transferable.

Just a tip for those Android and Apple phone users, try iMediaShare
It can be used both ways, with Upnp to your phone from mede8er side, and with a push from your phone to start on your mede8er.

And although music would be going through your phone, it does mean you don't need the TV on to play music!

The only question which arises for me is, if it still has problem with NTFS Partition like all player with the previous generation of the RT Chipset. Time will tell. Sometimes I hate it when new toys arrive and I use the old one although as I have it since over a year I shouldn't be too disappointed.

Most issues arose with the 1073 SDK used to create V4. The X2 uses a new 1185 Casablanca SDK, and has a new disk controller that handles 3TB drives. I never had the disk issues when I upgraded to V4 so I can't say you won't have problems using your drive with the X2, but there must be a good chance becuase of the changes I mentioned. It looks as if the new 3TB drive alignment starts at 2TB for some makes. So it's probable that 500x users should be fitting the XP jumper if offered, whilst X2 users will leave it off.

You could always buy a new drive as well (more expense). I did becuase I wanted a working Med500x if the 500x2 didn't work out of the box. Paranoid or what! Shocked
