Is there any YAMJ for dummies? I'm pretty tired of searching through the forums by now.

I'm starting to think I'm the only one who's not a computer hacker.

So a simple guide for noobs, or whatever we're called?!  Grin

Have you read through this one:
http://www.mede8er.com/mede8er_y2m_user_guide.html

Should be dummy proof.

Hi!

I'm having some trouble about adding new movies to Y2M. Every time I 'll add a new folder with a movie to the root folder of movies I'll have to scan my whole library of movies Huh Is there a way to automaticaly scan the folder for just the new folder and download all the infomation?? I have a list of 800+ movies and it takes about 2 hours to scan the folder and download the info so it's impossible to be done every time I' ll add a new movie.
Also after the first time I run Y2M, it created .xml files in both the jukebox folder and the folder that the movie is located. Is this correct ?? The jukebox folder where should it be located ?? In the C: or in the drive where the movie folder is located ??

Thank you very much for your time!!

Did you enable the option:
Preserve previous scanned data

That should speed up the scanning process.

Another trick if you don't want to scan specific folders in your movie collection:
Place an empty file called .mjbignore into the folder.
Yamj will then ignore that folder and all folders below during the scan.
You can just copy and past the .mjbignore file that is in the YamJ folder by default.

Another way:
Place your new movies in a folder called New and point YamJ to only scan that folder in Y2M settings.
When the scan is completed, just move the content of the New folder to the place you want.

Thank you very much for your time!
I ticked the option you mentioned and indeed the scan time decreased to 30 minutes from 2 hours!  Wink
Another thing I can't understand is why it makes two xml files for every movie. One in the c:\my_jukebox\jukebox folder and one in the folder where the movie is located. Do you know if this is correct ??
Also another problem I found is that I can't use the option of parental control and watch indicator. Although I enable it nothing happens. Do you know if there is some kind of problem with these features ?? Huh
The configuration I use for the movies is through network if it has something to do  with the problem I mentioned above.

Again thank you very much for our time!!  Grin

Regarding to the 2 xml files:
The jukebox folder is the place where all movie info is collected by YamJ.
Then JamJToMede8er generates a folder.jpg and about.jpg based on that data and generates an xml file that is compatible with mede8er.
So first is default YamJ, second is specific YamJToMede8er.

There is a simple explanation why watch indicator and parent lock is not working if you are using networks shares to stream from. Watch indicator and Parental control needs Write access on those shares to work (it needs to write a file on the share). So check if your network shares are made write enabled.
