Having upgraded last night to the latest Firmware, we have experienced the following
On playing all movies either from WHS or internal Hard drive we are getting an audio delay of approx 1 sec on all sources.
Do I need to regress to a previous version. I was up until 2am this morning trying all different combinations.
The funny thing is the very first film I tried ran in sync for about 3 seconds?? then it went a bit funny and when the sound came back on it was then out of sync. Has been for every other and even after a reboot??
Any help greatly appreciated
Steve

How does your setup look like? What brand/type TV, what amp you are using and how are things connected?

You've fallen foul of CEA-EDID, added without Sanji's knowledge to the SDK used in V4. This allows display devices to tell audio sources how long the video pipeline is and hence how much delay is required to keep audio and video in sync. There is little point doing that if the source then ignores that request, or screws it up. I'm not sure Realtek understood the full impact on sources of introducing CEA-EDID. I think they just thought it meant audio devices would tell the Med what codecs they support. Older TV's which don't have CEA-EDID don't have a problem. Newer TV's connected to non cea-EDID devices behave like older TV's and handle the sync problem themselves.

Hi,
I have the 500 connected to the TV via HDMI to a Samsung 50c680 plasma screen (couple of months old).
The Home Server is one hop away on another port of an unmanaged switch. The internal drive is a 2Tb drive although I cant remember the make - it was formatted with the 500
Thanks for the fast responses
Steve

Samsung. Most of the recent reports of this issue involve Samsung TV's. Try turning off Anynet+.

Am I right this is a Samsung 3D tv?
Suggestion: set your mede8er to 1080i 50hz or 60hz and retry.

Searching the NET and you do find a lot of problem posts with Samsung HDMI 1.4 TV's connected to HDMI 1.3 kit. It dosn't matter if it's a bluray player, or a HDMI equipped Amp. It's as if they are not tottally backward compitable. I bet they work great with Samsung 3D HDMI 1.4 bluray players!

You said that you experienced the latency issue since you upgraded to the 4.0.4 firmware. I have one Samsung 3D TV myself, and see the same with 3.0.x or lower firmware. It comes with the TV....
I am still waiting for a FW of Samsung that is gonne give a solution.... In the meantime on this TV I use 1080i mode on the attached mede8er.
My other older Samsung TV -> no issues at all.

I hope he hasn't got an Onkyo amp as well. Most reports relate to Samsung HDMI 1.4 Tv's and Onkyo amps. It looks like the worst system you could have would be a MED, an Onkyo Amp and a Samsung hdmi 1.4 TV.

Hi Guys 1080i works. The 500 has been sat there since we got the samsung as it seemed to play most things - it came back from repair (not) yesterday and now can play next to nothing hence this coming out of hibernation. Now to get the videowall working Steve Final question - will this go away when I connect up through the Yammy 1067 amp - acting as a buffer? Cheers Steve

Hi Steve,
You might want to give it a try, but the latency is in the TV. Maybe you can correct some with audio delay in your amp?
regards, Maasbommel

Does your Samsung have Auto Motion Plus picture settings? If so, what is your current setting? Mine is set to standard, and I notice audio sync delay issues. If its set to off or clear, the audio is in sync.
