I think you restore configuration or just have different ip.... just check that.  A different typed number give me headache for 3 hours

So what advice given on the previous pages have you followed? I took all the information learnt from this thread and upgraded this Tip:-
http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,4014.0.html

But you shouldn't start there if you are a new Med buyer who has immedialtely upgraded the firmware. You must start with the Beginners Guide before anything else.

Hi

Problem is back.

Today when i tried to put file into meder i realized that meder is again not visible on my windows 7.
Restered NAS, restarted meder, restarted PC, restarted rooter. Nothing...
I tried 1 hour many tricks, nothing helped. I decied to reinstal firmware. Did it. Still same problem.
After that i did all long path like 2 weeks ago (including Acrylic). Problem still occurs.

Any new advice ? It worked perfect for 2 weeks. I didn't do any hardware configuration changes and software also. It worked yesterday at 9 pm. Today meder disapeared.
I can only ping it. That's all.

Did you also add the WINS fix? You should also consider using third party DNS servers to see if the problems is your ISP's DNS servers.

Hi

Im not sure what is WINS fix but, what i did:
Steps 1,2,3,4,5 from link: http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,4014.0.html
I also tried google DNS ip on my PC ( 8.8.8.8 ).
Nothing help.

I also reinstalled today mornig FW to version 3.05 - same problem.
I'm little tired about it, 2 weeks ago i spent all day to solve problem. It has been solve but i really dont know what exactly solve it.

Today at work i will talk with administrator in my company, maybe he can help with it.

One more thing. Starting from yesterday i can't even see meder in my network (previously i saw him but cant enter).
Only 1 thing i can do it to ping it by IP and name. It works.

I've never been able to see Mede8er from my Win7 PC after the Med has been switched on. It's been like this since early f/w versions such as 3.x.x. I always map a network drive on Win7 PC to Mede8er via Windows Explorer or My Computer and it then works fine. I believe Jer1956 has given many reasons in the past about why Mede8er is not always visible on network e.g. sometime takes Windows 15 minutes to discover all network devices. When you went back to 3.0.5 did you remember to set NAS to ON in the settings?

According to this "pinging" dosn't gurentee "connectiing":-

Quote

I can ping my host, but I can't view my server.

Being able to ping a host does not indicate connectivity. Many firewalls, routers and even some ISPs reject ICMP (ping) packets. Likewise, even if a host responds to a ping, that doesn't indicate that services are available at that location. Instead, you should attempt to reach services at your network using our Open Port tool or a Telnet command.

Another "source" for these issues is Winsock corruption.

Ok, i dont need to see meder in devices, but when i use \\192.168.1.200 or \\MEDE8ER i must be able to see meder folders.

Of course i set NAS to on. I also logged via putty and restarted samba with a script.
I also tested connection to some port. For example i tested port 139 and 445. Both are avaliable from my PC.
Can some1 confirm port numbers that samba listen for connections ?

It's the principle. Windows 7 is new, but most problems aren't. So there is more advice out there which predates Win 7 than specifically for it.  Many users fail to find solutions for themselves becuse they Google to specifically. Your not going to get many posts using "Windows 7 Mede8er winsock".

I did things from your link step by step. I did it remotely and after winsock reset i had to restart windows.
Now i can't connect to my pc remotely, i will check it after work at home and give u results.

//Edit
Im at home, i checked it. Nothing change. Still same problem. Only 1 thing i had to do after this tip was to set once again IP of my PC cause its gone.

//Edit 2
I started testing with another PC (wife laptop). Im able to connect to meder from laptop (it's win XP).
I also tried to connect to laptop from my PC and as i can see i can't either.
So it looks like it is my PC (win 7) problem. I will try to find solution. If i have it i will let u know.

Read all, still nothing...
I can scan both meder and laptop with win XP. I can scan open ports and many things, only 1 thing that i cant is to see shared folders (of course laptop got shared folders).
It looks like on my win 7 this option has been blocked or something.
