I had the same problems after upgrading to 4,04.
I never changed any settings in my PC, used auto-ip on my med. After resetting my router and reinstalling 4,04 iīm abled to connect to the med. So my problems are solved

Can you confirm if you have a Router DNS Proxy or not?

So your sequences was:- Install 4.0.4 - Nas dosn't work reset router (med still using 4.0.4) Re-install 4.0.4 - Nas works.
Getting 4.0.4 to work is diffcult if we can't be sure the code is running as it should due to a poor install. We could just tell everyone to install again but I'm not sure how well that would go down. How many times could we expect users to do that before looking at the problem itself?

Thanks!
I lost my NAS feature when I upgraded to 4.04. I re-flashed v4.04 firmware (without reseting router), and it now works perfectly.

It would be interested to know what upgrade method you used the first time. Did you use the upgrade option from Mede8er setup or did you use the Firmware Recovery method as mentioned in the release notes of the firmware?

I used the procedure in the release notes in both instances. The only difference between the 1st and 2nd is the flash drive I used which should be insignificant.

You might have had a corrupted format on your flash disk that caused a corrupted install.

It's a shame there is no way of performing a CRC check on a download, and do a byte by byte verify on an install.

As far as I know winrar will do a CRC check when you unpack.

I had exactly the same issue here. I did an upgrade from 4 final to 4.04 and NAS function was gone. After re-installing 4.04 it just works again! I used the same unpacked image file on the same usb-stick with the same procedure and I didn't reset the router.

I get the impression this issue isn't even about a bad firmware upgrade. Something happens to how the network percieves the Med on the first install and it's presence on the network is only complete after the second.

Same here. Didn't reset anything. Re-installed with the same image on the same USB device. Switched on NAS, and it works! One strange thing: After the 1st install, I changed the Hostname of the Mede8er since Windows 7 also suggested a problem with the hostname. That didn't fix it. After re-install of 4.0.4 the name change was gone and the original name I gave it before the upgrade was in the config.
