Since my med5000X upgrade from V4Beta5 (06/12/2010) to V4_INC_HD_AUDIO (final) I experience the following problems:
  • No audio on my movies shot with Canon Powershot SX1IS (.mov)
    Start up M
ede8er - Homecinema (Marantz) - TV : results in mede8er logo shown on TV and then No signal message on TV.

1. No Audio for Canon .mov
With the final version (V4 final) the video is great but there's no audio. (for all .mov files from canon)
After a downgrade to V4Beta5 the audio and video playback is normal for all .mov files.
Included you 'll find the mediainfo for a .mov

2. HDMI Handshake
Only with the final version I have the problem with the message "no signal" on my tv. The only way to solve it is to restart the mede8er again.
Restarting the homecinema or TV does not help.
The startup sequence does not matter. (normally I use the activity on my logitech harmony one)
After a downgrade to V4Beta5 this problem is also gone.

So I am back on V4Beta5 awaiting a new release.

Kind regards
Poelie

Hi Poelie,

What video setting are you using on V4 Final?
How is your mede8er connected? Via your amp or directly to your TV?

Hi Maasbommel,
Thx for the response
- On V4 Final I used video setting "720 60Hz" (restored config from V4beta5)
- Mede8er --> HDMI --> AMP --> HDMI --> LG TV. (Audio and Video through HDMI)

I don't think restoring settings  from previous Beta is a good idea. I think you need to reset the settings and go though by hand. You may  also have to disable any kind of device control over HDMI from the TV.

It is clearly stated in the V4 final upgrade procedure not to use config restore with a config from another version.

If you did, I suggest to just reinstall V4 final with FW recovery mode and not do do only a set to default.
Just to be sure you wipe out all old config stuff. After that set all settings manually.
And as Jer1956 suggest, disable any HDMI CEC feature on you other connected equipment to be sure that these features are not giving any trouble.....

First try to set a fixed HDMI setting, if that still give trouble, try HDMI Auto.

Ok, I did a clean install of firmware V4 final.
Settings:
Audio - HDMI Passthrough
Video - 720P 60Hz

HDMI Handshake: I just tried it once. No Problem (at the moment)
No Sound on movies captured with my canon sx1is: still no sound. On the info screen I can see
 . video H264 ....
 . audio unknown

Downgrade to V4 Beta5.
same settings for audio and video (manual): HDMI passtrough and 720P 60Hz
movies captured with canon play just fine.
On the info screen I can see
. video H264 ....
. audio LPCM, 2ch, 44kHz

I think this is not a user problem.

Good to here your HDMI handshake issue seems to be gone.

Regarding the audio problem on .mov file, are you able to upload some sample on mede8er ftp so we can use that for testing and supplying to the dev engineers?

For ftp instructions, see: http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,279.0.html

There are known issues with Stereo LPCM. Try setting both HDMI and SPDIF to Downmix.

Are you using passthrough for audio?
