Hi,
I have stuck with v2.02 on my Mede8er 500 since I purchased it, but as I keep reading about all the nice features of the new v.4 I would like some advice before doing the upgrade.

I have a very simple set-up, no HDMI, just a basic TV with component jacks that I use and the analog red and white RCA audio jacks that I run to my simple stereo system, the TV is a 27" Sanyo CRT type TV, it all works good but I'm wondering what version of the software do I download? The one labeled "nohdaudio" or the one saying "inchd" audio? Does it really matter which one I use seeing as I am only using the basic set-up?

And if I do upgrade to the v4.04 and it has too many glitches for me can I roll back to v2.02? I believed awhile back I upgraded to v.3.02 and I was having issues with some of my .iso's being invalid and then I went back to v2.02 and that problem went away.

I did as they said when I bought the media player and formatted the internal hard drive with the Mede8er's own software, I can't remember the version I started with but I read on here that you should upgrade the firmware to a higher version then format the hard drive with the mede8er. I did all that and it worked perfectly, no troubles, then I believe later on I went up to v3.05 or so and that is when I had the problem with some of my .iso's showing up as invalid so I then rolled back and never had the problem again and I have been at this version v2.02 since then:)

So to cut a long story short will I lose the files on the internal hard drive if this firmware crashed the system, I have a 2tb hard drive in there and it is full of movies and my music and boy I would hate to re-install all of that again:) I did some reading on here, a lot of reading to be exact and the problems I see with upgrading vary so much that I really couldn't find anybody with my issues stated, I downloaded the new guides for my 500 model and the videowall guide that looks pretty cool.

My biggest worry is which firmware of the 2 do I install and if I do install it will some of my .iso's and mp3's show up as invalid? I must add I have 2 more 2tb external hard drives added to this player for a total of 6tb so I have a good reason to worry if some of the .iso'd don't show up or are invalid after the install.

Thanks for your time

You don't have to worry about losing 2TB internal HDD after upgrade to v4.0.4. This new firmware will update your bootloader also, and about ISO/MP3 that failed to play - it should be plays fine in new v4.0.4.
If anything happen after upgrade, such as failing/hang/corrupted, you can easily re-flashing firmware to recover your unit.
Just read carefully on how to upgrade manual, and post your result here, and if your ISO file or anything else fails to play, feel free to report to firmware v4.0.4 discussion at http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,4798.0/topicseen.html

Thanks A lot (the-osiris) I appreciate the quick response, I Installed the new firmware the (INC_HD_AUDIO) version, it installed perfectly with no glitches, all my files are visable and playable, well I checked quite a few of them:) I have 6tb of movies so it will take awhile:) A lot of nice changes, I feel as though I bought a new media tank, what a change from v2.02, nice very nice, they did a great job.

Now like many others I have to figure out how to create and get my Wall working, lots of reading, I'm glad I listened to you people before about putting each movie in it's own folder under a genere and the I used Tvixie to get the info and photos on the movies, so all my movies are set up that way with the photos and everything else the media tank needs, I'm hoping I don't need the YMAJ program to make the wall work and have to do all of my movies over again using that program, that would take forever.

Once again thanks for the help.
