I'm having problems updating my MED500X from 3.0.4 to V4.0.4_3March2011_NO_HDaudio.zip using the emergency procedure. The screen freezes after 5 "progression bars" have appeared on the screen, where it sais "Please do not turn off the power". I waited for 15 minutes, turned of the power (because it seemed pointless to wait any longer), turned it back on and all it shows is the Mede8er logo. I repeated the process: same result. Should I use the 17L Bootloader Patch procedure to fix this? I was under the impression this was fixed in this release (soource: Changelog from V4) ?

Hi Bokkem

Pls use another USB Stick or re format your current Stick with the HP Utility. You can find a link on the V4 download page.

You don't. Many users who switch between amps and TV requested that they could have both SPDIF and HDMI audio simultaneoulsy. They would no longer have to switch output in the Audio Menu. The Med now works like a typical bluray player. If you don't want the TV audio, your press Mute. The Dev team have tried to add an HDMI Audio OFF mode without success.

One of the problems is that HDMI Auto become the Video Ouput and this can hang during the EDID transfer with some TV's. You need to boot once using composite.

The stick I'm using did fine with previous firmware updates, but as per your request I used another USB stick and reformatted it to FAT32 with the HP utility. Now the screen locks on the first screen saying: "Start Installation...(rev:V4.0.4)" after 16 bars. The LED on the MED500X is solid pink.

I'm going to patch the bootloader and will let you know the results.

I'm getting the impression you're guessing what the solution might be. I rolled back to 3.0.4 since the bootloader patch didn't work either and I've already wasted an hour of my time. Needlessly to say, it shouldn't be this tricky for a customer to flash a firmware. I'm not very pleased with the release at the moment, but I thank you for your prompt replies.

I've done the update and is succesfull.

But still no HD AUDIO.

This whas in the Original V4 Features

*  Support Dolby True HD and DTS MA passthrough - DD+ hardware

Known SDK Issues:

* HD Audio will only passthrough on HDMI if TV Res Output is set to 720 or Higher

I've done it all but i'm only getting the DTS logo on my reciever.

Any ideas??

Thx

Guessing? Logical Deduction more like. Users have already upgraded to V4.0.0 and you will see the same advice in those responces. Now we could do like many offical sites and wait for an  enginneer to test "problems", and check code before giving any kind of response. That would require many problems would be offloaded to Realtek, taking even longer.
As it is, users get a faster response, and advice based on Logical Deduction usually produces the right result.  Where it dosn't it gets dropped in favour of better advice. It's like an episode of House! Cheesy

You do have DD+ hardware? You have installed HD-Audio firmware?

Hello, I have access to from Mede8er to PC. I see files in my shared folders and I can use them. So, it works from this side. The problem is, that I see Mede8ers icon in My Computer, but is doesn't response (computer shows an error). It seems, I am not the only one, Harry_993 has the same issue. I hope, it will be fixed soon, because I realy waited on this change in audio output mode.

Regards.

Unfortunately this issue arose with 4.0.0 and the new SDK. Some Med users have had networking issues since it's inception. Realtek seem to have change the networking code in the New SDK, which has improved things for some who had sharing issues before, but created the problem for some who never had the problem before. There is advice in the tips section for dealing with this issue. We can't say if Realtek will ever get code that has zero sharing problems for everyone.

Sorry, but don't understand the answer. I just asked which!
