Yes, I set NAS on. I didn't have this problem with the 3.0.5. By old version everything worked ok, except audio output disturbed me (I would like to have simultaneous on HDMI and SPDIF, like is now in 4.0.4).
Have you tried to connect with the shortcut method? And what kind of setup do you use on your shared PC folders? An account with loginname and password or just using Guest account?

All those who havn't already upgraded will have to check the Change Log for what's been changed, and what is still outstanding. No one should just assume all problems have been eliminated becuase a new version is available.

Hello. I have some troubles playing movies with dolby TrueHD audio (m2ts, mkv, ts). My unit plays them without sound ("unknown audio format" information appears). I've got older hardware (DD), so I'm fully aware I can't get full dts hdma or dolby truehd, but from what I understand firmware V.4 should be able to play core sound from these formats? I've installed "No_HD" firmware version, as suggested for SPDIF users. There is no problem when playing dts HDMA, only dolby TrueHD. Sorry for my english, it's not my native language. Best regards.

The hdd is not automatically formatted after a firmware upgrade. The only way to format the hdd in the unit is by choosing the menu item "format HDD" Note that the mede8ter works best if the HDD was once formatted in the mede8ter. If not formatted in mede8ter you risk some bugs (e.g. read-only when accessing via network) of course you do loose the settings (screensize/networksettings/pincode), but it not a lot of work to add them again.

Update again using recovery mode and don't use config restore, but set all by manually again. I expect some config restore issue or some corrupt FW install.
Tried that twice, but the issue remains. The strange effect of the logo moving around the screen and painting the screen black as it goes is weird. I set the screen saver to 'on' at five minutes this at least stopped the problem of having to exit all the way out to the top level. So at least the screen saver stops

Hello Harry_993
Did you try putting the host name into the explorer bar eg "\\MEDE8ER" or IP "\\XXX.XXX.XX.XX"

Hello, I have access to from Mede8er to PC. I see files in my shared folders and I can use them. So, it works from this side. The problem is, that I see Mede8ers icon in My Computer, but is doesn't response (computer shows an error). It seems, I am not the only one, Harry_993 has the same issue. I hope, it will be fixed soon, because I realy waited on this change in audio output mode. Regards.

I'm not sure if this is a 4.0.4 problem, but I am unable to delete a specific directory (and the files within). Let me break it down...
There is a directory in the root of my hdd that I want to delete. It has two sub directories with one file in the last sub directory. That file is a .mkv file. For some obscure reason, the .mkv file somehow inherited the extension of .mkv.t - which I cannot change remotely from my Windows laptop (I get a message saying I need User\Root permission). I also cannot unset the "watched" indicator on the mede8er. When, on the mede8er, I try to delete the sub directory with the file in, the mede8er hangs. Because it's a .t file, I cannot see the file in that directory, which is correct. From my laptop, I can delete the file, but when I go back into the directory, the file is back.
Please help...
Update: I turned off the Watched Indicator under Setup. The watched icon is gone on the mede8er, but I still cannot delete the file from my laptop. Keeps re-appearing as a .mkv.t

I expect you have some filesystem inconsistency problem. Connect your mede8er to your PC and run chkdsk from a dosbox.

You "expected" correctly. Chkdsk found some errors, which were fixed. Was able to delete the directory after that. Thanks Maasbommel - you the man!
