I think this new firmware [CENSORED]; I can't get the screensaver off, it goes out on after 60 sec or so even if i put it off in the menu. Often i got some blurr (blocks) during watching an MKV video. The menu works like on thick oil...much slower then teh previos version. I'm very dissappointed.

I suggest you reinstall again. This behaviour is not normal and might be caused by some corrupted fw install. Check first if you have bootloader version 26. Suggest to first install V4beta5 to reinstall the bootloader. After that install 4.0.4 again. Be sure to use a full formatted usb stick, you might consider to use the HP format tool as mentioned in the firmware release notes. You can find the mentioned firmware with release notes here: http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/board,46.0.html

Maasbommel, if the USB formatting is so crutial then why don't you create application that makes all in one: formats the USB and copies the FW onto it. Maybe also add bootloader "thing". Isn't it frustrating that there it almost nothing else to read in forum lately than users might have corrupted FW.

Take in mind that there are thousands of mede8er users that have done the update without any problems. The few you see here are the exceptions, no matter what update procedure or tool is supplied: you will always see that kind of patterns in an update/change process.

I own 2 mede8er400x players. After i installed the 4.0.4 firmware i have problems with the watched indicator that dont work on all files as it did previously. So no eye icon during series.. And yes, the function is on in misc.

I have followed the update description and updated the med500x from 3.04 to 4.0.4 without any problems. Tip though, it could be that you dont see the progress bar if connected via hdmi so during update i had connected the med via composite cable.
New GUI and Video Wall looks great.
The only minor in my opinion is that: a- you can't place a movie under more than 1 genre. b- if you have a 3 level deep (movie collection\genre\movie1) that you can't browse/see all your movies on the wall, you have to browse per Genre and then see the movies in that Genre. A Total view on the Wall would be nice to have.
Thanks en Regards,

Hi,
Loving the new release. Thanks.
The only issue I have is that I cannot get the Watched indicator to work. I have turned it on and off. The movies I watched under the old version show up with the eyes but the new ones do not. Any ideas?

Somewhere there is a thread concerning this (on this forum). I would look there. I think it had something to do with a gap which was needed between the partitions.

I searched and just found where they said turn it on manually....which I did. I am not a very good troll sorry

This is a forum where the firmware is discussed. It is just human nature to discuss the issues or problems you are having. Ever watch the News, you never hear much about the good stuff going on though there is a ton of it. I used to have a Patriot Box Office where in general the support [CENSORED]. Feel lucky here, where you have a developer who really cares about putting out a quality unit and software. My 2 cents anyway.

Some users just visiting this forum when they've got problem, and forgot to give feedback if they've already solved the problem. Yes, it's just natural ..
