I get the following error when I hit the "Run YAMJ" tab. Any ideas?

Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Could not reserve enough space for object heap

Hi francoisZA

Pls try this

1. Right click "My Computer" and select "Properties"
2. Select "Advanced system serttings"
3. Select "Enviroment Variables"
4. Go to the window "System Variables"
5. Scroll down and find System Variable "QTJAVA"  and double click it
6. Make sure that the path looks like this "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\ext\QTJava.zip"
7. So in point 6. you want to put in the correct path to the file "QTJava.zip"

Nope, only one Java.exe in bin directory.

The Google link refers to mutiple Java installs in different directorys.

Yes, and as I said there is only one.

"...and so unless the java’s bin is the foremost in the path, one will bound to get the error. The error occurs because Java.exe or other Java executable expect some support files and directories to be found but obviously could not find it in Windows directory. Running the java.exe in its bin directory will not produce error because Windows will use  the current directory to which the file is run first before searching for it in the path..."

But it is...

I checked my variables in windows.

I see 2 variables:
QTJAVA with value C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\lib\ext\QTJava.zip

Also:
CLASSPATH with value: .;C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\lib\ext\QTJava.zip

This is with the 32 bit version of java installed, using the 32 bit Y2M package on a win7 64bit system.
(yes you can use 32bit java and Y2M package on a 64bit system).

Error occurred during initialization of VM
try this:

1. Remove Java entirely, best with revo uninstaller will remove registry also
2. Download java http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
3.  Install

Could not reserve enough space for object heap

in MovieJukebox.sh and MovieJukebox.bat
try to rise the xms value

java -Xms256m -Xmx1024m
to java -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m

if thats not working reduce the values

java -Xms256m -Xmx1024m
to java -Xms512m -Xmx512m   or even lower.

removed java using a tool earlier...different one from your recommendation i think
...re-installed..also re-installed yamj
i'm using win 7 32 bit and now have 2 paths in the user viables window

Class Path
C:\Program Files\Java\Ire 7|bin
and
Path
C:\Program Files\Java\Ire 7|bin

Now have 'could not reserve enough space for object heap' error

where do i go to in order to find 'MovieJukebox.sh and MovieJukebox.bat and to try and change the xms values

....cant find them?

thanks again

well found a MovieJukebox in the yamj installation folder.....clicking on this just brings up a flash of a small 'Dos' type window which dissapears as quick as it comes up
..and the MovieJukebox.sh....click on that and windows says it has'nt the program to open up this file?

have to forgive me i'm a bit of a novice

thanks
