Hello, I must say I was quite excited to read about the app for my android phone, which I duly downloaded, but only having the lowly 200X, which doesn't have WiFi access out of the box, I am unable to to take advantage of it, I suppose my next move will be to get hold of the WiFi dongle in order that I can make use of this very useful app.

Hi Paul,

The usb wifi dongle is not supported on the 200X, so advise not to buy a dongle.
200X is a standalone player without network option.

Thanks for the heads up Maasbommel, I was a little bit confused, On this page it states that there is a WiFi dongle under development for the 200X and as the image displayed looks very similar to the WiFi dongle currently on sale, I made the foolish assumption that they are one and the same thing. So it looks as though a WiFi dongle is under development for the 200X, I will just have to be a little more patient and wait until it is released.

Hello

Quick Question, will this work to browse my Music files? So without turning on the tv when I connect it to my receiver??

I want to play music and internet radio by using my phone to direct the player...

Hope someone can tell me this. (i have no yet purchased the MP so cannot test it myself)

Regards

you don't need to use "." while inputing IP to Mede8er, just input number using remote, and using left-right button to set another IP number.

no man ... it will not work ..... it is just a replacement for your remote control ... think at this like a wifi remote control

you will not know what you play .... it will play the first founded file / radio stream / movie .... you will see only the remote commands  but not the files

for a more clear image try the same thing from a pc browser

Type the following in your browsers adress bar and change the your-mede8er-ip to the Mede8er actuall IP

this is what you'll see on your phone screen

Hi All,

I read this is just a replacement for your mede8er remote control, so you can't control the Mede8er with the app, like you can with the Med2key right? Any time short this feature will be available in de app?

The reason why I'm asking: I just bought a Mede8er Med500X2 and haven't got a PCI wireless card yet, but I want to have one. I've seen a combopack with the Med2key + PCI, but I'm wondering if it's worth buying if the Android App might be able to do this in the future.

Thanks in advance!

The keyboard is needed for internet services, but sanji saw  the benefit of having it dothe remote functions as well, so that you didn't need to keep swapping devices. Achieving the same with an android device, like the tab I am using, would be a lot of effort which only a few wouls benefit from.

The way  that requires least work (for sanji) would be to make a link between an IP port and the keybaord/mouse buffer. That way your networked device would fill the same buffer using the same commands. You would then need something like the slingbox virtual remote system, where you see a display on your androud device of the med2key keyboard. Pressing any key on this virtual keybaord would then send the same code as the real keybaord to the same keybaord buffer. The rest of the X2 software would work as if the real keybaord had been used, without modification.

...at this point I'm half expecting shizzl to come up with a photoshop image of what this would look like! Wink
